Spinnin' like a hurricane

October 4-5: LASARE3 at Charles Huang Conference Center in Batangas. The place was really calm mostly because of the cool air and the luscious trees everywhere we went.  It may be the most memorable LASARE I’ve ever had in my entire college stay next to LASARE1 back in freshman year. Just a little random fact: did you know that all of my LASARE sessions took place between October 4-6 apart from the fact my section was either A54 or A55? Coincidence? I think not. :)

I was not an exception to the vulnerability of weight gain due to the buffet every meal which was served every four to six hours. It was at LASARE3 where I first learned how the magnifique taste of carabao milk gelatin. Besides the round-the-clock meals we devoured ourselves into, my favorite part would have to be the bonding session with my roomies Angel and Monzie! LASARE3 would have been nothing but just some memory without the two of you.

My very own interpretation of Rejoice’s “Haba ng Hair!” campaign featuring two of the girls who made LASARE3 so awesome. Teehee :“>

"I see trees of green…” It’s a wonderful world indeed at Batangas!

We also made a little friend: this super cute dog named Roxy! She’s cuteness overload despite having only three decent shots of this diminutive pet which made our heart melt the whole time we played with her.

October 12 - What a way to cap off that fantastic week where a bunch of great things happened such as reconnecting with old friends and getting a good grade for the VPRODUC lockdown exercise! Not only it was graduation day for some, it was also the day the DLSU Green Archers brought home the crown back to Taft as UAAP Senior Men’s Basketball Champions! Some hours before, I attended the second of the two-day Creative Writing workshop as part of the CMEP (Comprehensive Media Education Program) exclusive for SMO members. As the clock struck four, our facilitator Sir Kokoy dismissed us immediately so we could all watch the live streaming of the deciding game of the UAAP Basketball Finals in Henry Sy Hall.

Due to the torrential rains the night before, I was supposed to watch the game at home instead for safety reasons but thank the Lord for a better weather that Saturday afternoon. What an experience to witness history with your fellow Lasallians! The game was heart-stopping from the first few minutes of the first quarter until the time expired in overtime. The crowd groaned in unison every time the Archers failed to convert their free throws or three-pointers. Every time the Archers got to shoot and block the Growling Tigers’ attempts to score, the crowd ruptured to glowing cheers. Five minutes into overtime, we joined hands through the straddling beats of our hearts as players from both teams went back and forth with the championship on the line. A free throw and a two-pointer later, an eighth title for DLSU was signed, sealed, and delivered. A feat of greatness was achieved after an up-and-down season wherein the team was in danger of missing the playoffs at one point in the first round. However, they were able to rally from the deficit and now they’re back on top.

When the clock expired in overtime, everyone in attendance of the live viewing went nuts! Friends squealed and jumped while hugging in circles. Faculty members and alumni who were present at the time exchanged congratulatory handshakes. Twitter was in shambles as users tweeted their frustrations and happiness all in a second. Photos of the championship game were everywhere you click. Man, what a gut-wrenching feeling for many of us to be part of the championship experience before graduation! And as for those who marched in the PICC to close another chapter of their lives, this would have to be the best graduation gift they would cherish for many years to come.

Watched the game in Henry Sy with these girls <3

At the time DLSU was down by as much as 15 points at the end of the second quarter, I was so frustrated I wanted to go home for I believed our school’s basketball team would never recover from the point deficit. Alas, we rallied to get the last laugh on the most thrilling UAAP Finals game I’ve ever watched in my entire life!

Calm and collected: The crowd glued to the screen during commercial break

As a reward of the University’s recent success given the multiple championships and podium finishes in majority of the UAAP first round games, a victory party was held last Thursday at the Henry Sy Hall grounds to give thanks to the blessings showered upon us.

My girls + Kevs (forever camera shy LOL) and more friends made Thursday a really happy and memorable one. To Monzie, Jeline and Kevs, thank you so much for the BBB dinner, our trip around Taft, and our mini-karaoke at the Quad!

An obligatory selfie to change my 2 month old Facebook profile picture

There was a shirt selling held during Animo Night, but I did not have extra cash to purchase a single championship apparel *sobs hysterically*.  My goal at the end of the month is to save at least P400 so I could buy something like this one or any DLSU-related shirt for this matter: image

This past Friday, I finally finished a simple typography I made just for fun which I’ll reveal soon once I’ve made adjustments to it. Just wait for it on Instagram and Twitter!

Before I bid adieu, let me tell you why October has been better than September (so far):

  • Got to see a bunch of friends inside campus after a long time of not seeing each other :“>

  • Busy yet bonding moments with friends and GNW 2014 staffers <3

  • The sports part of my brain is functioning again

  • GV, just GV

I couldn’t ask for more. In my next post which would be whenever I’m free from all the school / orgwork this week, I will share my sentiments about the Green Archers, followers, and more.

One last thing: the Penguins are on a hot streak right now! \:D/

In Less Than a Thousand Words

My mind is stacked with research questions, conceptual maps, and rationales.

In Buzz Lightyear voice showing an imaginary Woody the universe: “Research, research everywhere!"

Today’s agenda lists only two things: INSERCH class and the Animo Night.

I’m so proud of my school’s basketball team right now. This might be the only time I’ll ever experience this in my entire tenure in Taft, so allow me to drown in tears of joy as we celebrate a victory well-deserved.

And LOL, no sembreak! Post about my life the past two weeks this weekend.

Talk to you later bye!
