TCP #4: A favorite real-life fact

Some stunningly attractive people look good in person but terrible in photographs. Some others look average but transform unbelievably on-camera. The truth: being photogenic does not mean she’s beautiful.

I am not photogenic. I will never put down my digicam until I snap a Facebook profile-worthy picture. I look confident when I look at the mirror every morning before going to school but it all halts down when I do a five-second pose for the benefit of flash photography. I look skinny in my real-life reflections but chunky in photos. The world is unfair because it’s divided into two: picture perfect people and not-so-photogenic ones. If you were from Mars and you are to choose your perennial side, I bet you’re going to choose the bright side. No one wants to look like garbage in her graduation picture, right?

Moving on, what I stated above is not a fallacy. It’s true that there are girls who look great in their Facebook photos but look average in real-life.  I guess it’s with the advantage of photo enhancement. In the age of Photoshop, we can flicker away an annoying pimple and remove the baby fat in our bikini-clad torsos. The “Photoshopped photos” trend is growing in large numbers especially on Facebook these days. I’ve seen a lot of users who look flawless in their profile pictures and photo albums. But when I see them in person, I’m like “Um, okay?”. Trust me, not everything that you see on social networking websites is parallel to real-life. I know some girls who look terrible in pictures but gorgeous in person. A number of my online networking friends aren’t that pretty or stunning off-cam. 

Lesson of the story: what you see is what you get is a myth. It’s not always true.

#2 A photo of you two years ago

Two years ago it’s fine for me to look like a retard on camera. But not anymore :P

Looking back at those pictures make me laugh because I made trying hard poses in front of my webcam. Man, these snaps don’t look pretty after all.

TCP #1: Random Thoughts

1. Random thoughts running in your mind right now

Every Twitter user’s nightmare is to get chirping crickets from someone you’ve mentioned in your tweets. If it happens once, then there’s always better luck next time. But if it happens more than five times (like in Lindsay Lohan’s case), then a piece of advice: deactivate your Twitter account already because no one wants to follow you back. I cannot believe that this kind of Twitter user exists. That user mentions a person she’s following but doesn’t get a reply from that user. Ouch. It is the worst feeling in the world not to get a mention from someone who is actually not following you back.

Hey Lindsay, it seems like they’re not following you back. If you’re getting crickets everytime you mention them, better quit Twitter instead. 

Second, I’ll write about a quaint story of a Chinese girl who wanted to have plastic surgery to look like Jessica Alba - for her ex-boyfriend.

The girl’s ex-boyfriend was an obsessed Alba fan. His adoration for the Hollywood actress went over the top he forced his girlfriend to wear a blonde wig at all times and wear makeup while sleeping. BS, right? Then after their break-up, the Chinese girl went to a cosmetic surgeon and asked for a plastic surgery in the hopes of winning her former flame back. Then Jessica, looking concerned, addressed the girl on national television not to continue with the surgery. Fortunately, Miss Alba-wannabe called it off and moved on. 

To those of you who are reading this, will you ever have plastic surgery to look like a celebrity? 

The Candydoll Files Turns Three!

Yesterday, The Candydoll Files celebrated its third birthday. :)

To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die

The last time I watched (500) Days of Summer was on the way home from our Mount Makiling outbound last January. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to finish the film due to technical difficulties :( Moving on, I can recall this scene where Summer sings this immortal line from The Smiths. All I can say is that I love this line.

I’m excited for next week’s line of activities: Monday’s KASAMAHAN exposure trip, Tuesday’s graduation orientation / afternoon tea party with the alumni association, Wednesday’s batch confession, Thursday’s batch recollection and Friday’s Seniors’ Night. On Thursday night, I resurrected my Looklet and Polyvore accounts to come up with version 1 and 2 of my Candyland-themed costume. Because I’m on a tight budget and going to the dressmaker costs a lot, I thought of a more creative and practical way to suit the theme.

My first version of the costume was supposed to be the final one. Unfortunately, suspenders weren’t available so I was forced to omit the idea.

The second version is my final costume. There are some alterations: no more suspenders, the skirt replaced the shorts and black shoes replaced sneakers.

I finally decided on what I’ll post in topic with The Candydoll Project. The meme I posted last week was tentative. This is more like a “getting to know the blogger” meme. So here are the questions:

Let me share you something about the turn-over ceremony yesterday.

It was also a send-off to the seniors. The Theresian Student Council for SY 2010-2011 took their final bow, Margarita made a very moving speech about leadership and the teachers made the seniors cry :(( Plus, we got a Batch 2011 ID tag with our names and the photo of the heritage tree on it. 

Final exams will be from Monday to Wednesday and I’ll be back online full-time on Wednesday afternoon!

I’m not supposed to blogging at this time of the night. I’m awake because of this feasibility project. My group has been working for THREE hours already.
