What Have You Done for Me Lately? #5: I Had A Lot of Fun This Holiday Break and It Was Good
First things off, I’d like to wish you all once again a Happy New Year! May 2016 be filled with grace, love and happiness all around.
After two weeks of catching up with sleep and pigging out and tripping to different places, I am about to share about the past holiday break on a random Saturday night!
A lot of amazing things have happened during the last two weeks of December 2015 + first few days of January. With that being said, is there anything else to make these memories last forever without the art of storytelling through words and pictures?
Whoop, there it is! Okay, not gonna keep you hanging any longer as we get down to business:
- I spent my holiday break at Singapore like I’ve been doing since 2011. Moments upon my arrival at the Changi Airport, my parents lured me to this Star Wars exhibit at Terminal 2 where I had my photo taken with these mighty stormtroopers. Then hours after that, we watched Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Cathay Cineplex and had a great time. Can we all agree that Rey is one badass heroine?
- Guess who got a pair of floral Vans last Christmas? This girl. Thank you so much, mom! <3
- It’s safe to say our family shied away from the traditional noche buena menu on Christmas Eve. Rather than the hamon and bibingka, we had a Pizza Hut combo box and KFC (not pictured). I am so in love with their Star Pizza because their crust is stuffed with mozzarella, parmesan and chicken. Happy tummy indeed!
- You wanna talk about Christmas? Sure. We went to Thai Express in Bugis Junction for dinner where I had chicken curry in crispy noodles. Shades of Bangkok 2015 right there.
- Spent the next three days (December 26-28) at Johor Bahru, Malaysia where we maximized our time to treat ourselves with food, hour-long facials and dyed hair.
- Speaking of which, I’m currently sporting a new look for the new year. I would have preferred keeping my hair longer with the new color but it never hurts to try, right? Bonus bit: the haidresser commented prior to my transition from black to brown, “Gee, your hair is too black.” Haha!
- I may have a new favorite restaurant in the form of Nando’s. For those who aren’t familiar with the place, they serve the world-famous peri-peri or flame-grilled chicken coming from its native South Africa. We had lunch there right before my flight back to Manila last Sunday, and it was love at first bite. Nando’s signature peri-peri chicken came with spicy rice and wedges so you could tell from my description alone that I was in food heaven.
- A perk of social media is that you get to attract the attention of a particular brand whenever you mention or tag them in your posts. It was the case between me and Nando’s. I tagged the restaurant in this Instagram post which resulted in a comment and a follow from them. Spectacular, huh?
- Another memorable thing about my holiday break was my first major shopping spree using my savings. If you ask me where I spent all of my hard-earned cash, I could assure you two things: clothes and books. Luckily for me, bargains and book fairs were everywhere in the two weeks I was in SG so the money was well-spent on stuff I like.
Now that I’m done telling you what happened over the break, I shall now try watching Making A Murderer. Let’s see how it goes.
