Weekend Rumble

Last weekend was a blast.

This was the first fun weekend ever since Dad’s visit three weeks ago. Last week was very dull, with I and Mom saying to each other the famous phrase “Broke again”. What did it meant? No window–shopping, no visits to SM San Lazaro, no fastfoods, and definitely no air-conditioned malls. Sounds boring if you ask me.

Then this week could have been so much better. I finally got my copy of this month’s Candy Magazine and I love this issue! On the day I got it, I quickly went to the page where the ad for the Council of Cool auditions was posted. In order to get in, all you need is to submit a brief essay convincing why you should be part of the next batch of COC. I want to send a copy of the essay to Dad via e-mail then he will proofread it. Although the deadline will still be on June 30 I am not wasting my time just moping around and have a useless summer. Think of imaginative ideas so that your essay will make it in the editors’ list. One essay is not enough. Try your best, make a hundred essays, have a parent or friend check your spelling and grammar, and collect some enthusiastic ideas for your entry. Who knows, if you do all of them then you might just receive a call saying that you got the opportunity of a lifetime. And that’s the thing that I’m wishing for this year!

So let me tell you how Saturday and Sunday went:

Saturday: hopped to the mall and we had fun. The main part of the day? Download 20 more songs and 2 new games on my PSP. Woohoo! Double the fun time with my beloved possession.

Sunday: Mom’s on bank duty in the Divisoria branch of Asiatrust. Her duty was at 1 pm so we had three whole hours of mall-hopping. When she was already on duty, I just browsed on Odyssey and NBS for about 90 minutes. Seems like I have another thing to add on my wishlist: the book entitled Secrets of A Hollywood Star because the summary is interesting to read and makes you want to buy it. The plot tells a fictional Hollywood celeb uncovering the secrets of the limelight and what is it like to be horded by the paparazzi following your every move. And the nut of them all, the dirty little secrets of celeb “friends” who pretend to be BFFs but they really aren’t.

That day I got a VCD of the 2005 film Jarhead, starring (sigh) Jake! The movie was really good although some of the scenes were a bit boring to watch. But if you’ll watch the movie, make sure you’re with an adult. And advice: please do not watch the Santa dance. I didn’t see that part! Rating for me will be 3.5/5 stars. It would have been 4 if there were no “scenes” there. But I was way impressed with Jake’s superb acting. He should have been nominated or won an Oscar for Best Actor!

Next entry of this post will be another Mind Ramble from me! :)
