It’s so sad to know that my favorite Boyzone member Stephen Gately passed away last October 10. He was only 33 years old.Stephen was the first singer I’ve gone crazy for. Back in 1998, at the peak of the boyband domination, Boyzone’s music captivated me. Then one of the members suddenly caught my attention with his charming smile, petite structure, and oozing vocals. Stephen stole the spotlight when it comes to their music videos. Back when I was a big fan of theirs, I had a videotape full of Boyzone’s music videos and concerts. Up to this day, I have their Greatest Hits album. Now I have to listen to their songs all over again.
Last week I caught a blog entry where she was talking about Stephen. I wondered, “It sounds familiar but I can’t remember who he is.” Then it was reported on TV and it was confirmed. The first singer to make me go crazy was dead. I read various Internet articles about him and I learned he battled depression for two years from 2000-2002. I don’t care if he’s controversial. What matters to me is that Stephen Gately’s a talented singer with the grace factor. May he rest in peace.
I haven’t seen this video of “A Different Beat” for a long time, so I got the chance today to check this out on YouTube. Here it is, a very inspiring MV to watch.
