It seemed like yesterday when I blogged about the first week of my fifth term in school. Now thirteen weeks have passed, I did not expect to create some of the best memories of my college life in between that period. The last two weeks of the fifth term have been very enjoyable at least for me; however, I wasn’t able to tell you all about it earlier because I was busy preparing for my finals (not a surprise for Lasallians at this time of the year). Now that I’m free from all schoolwork for at least a month, I can now tell the world how unforgettable the past two weeks have been for me.
The Week of December 3-8
Monday (December 3) - For our GREATWK assignment, Dr. Sarza obliged our class to go to any Mexicali branch (but SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma, and SM North Edsa) for a “date” with the immortal Frida Kahlo. Right after a sample run of our GENDERS play in the morning wherein Sir Canoy liked it very much, Monzie, Kevs and I headed to Robinsons Midtown for our date with Frida Kahlo. At first we feared we would end up going to the Mexicali branch there for nothing had there not been a Kahlo painting in sight. Fortunately for us, we saw not only one but two works: The Elephant and The Dove and Self-Portrait with Bonito. Their chicken enchilada with Mexican rice made my tummy really happy that day! On that day Mexicali proved to be one of the finest restaurants in town with their delectable cuisine.
At night, we had night practices for the GENDERS play which will go on for the next few days - more about it after the jump! But first, here is a living proof that I had a date with Frida Kahlo (sorry Diego!)
Tuesday (December 4) - Probably the only dull day of the week since nothing special happened except for our free cut in GREATWK.
Wednesday (December 5) - One of the best Wednesdays ever! In the morning our GENDERS class was supposed to rehearse at the William Shaw Little Theatre. Unfortunately, it was too late when we found out there was a prior booking by a POLISCI class so we all moved to the Yuch balcony.
I’m too lazy to narrate everything so let me just put it into bullet form:
- During the rehearsals Noreen was telling me her amazing stories about Bazooka Rocks like how she got to meet and greet The Maine, Marianas Trench, Forever the Sickest Kids, etc. XD I would never forget her story about The Maine hiding in the tablecloth only to come out with an autographed setlist and something fishy about The Pretty Reckless (long story lol).
- Starbucks + Pasta Plate with third term-forever-classmates Kevs and Tisha! It has been a while since the three of us hung out with each other!
- Another round of play rehearsals!
- Rode the LRT together with my GENDERS classmates!
- Slept at 11, woke up at 12MN, then slept at 4:45 AM only for the final PPT presentation in INTOECO </3
Thursday (December 6)
- INTOECO final group presentation was a success! There were slip-ups but at least everything went smoothly!
- Because I was so fatigued from last night I fell asleep in HISTCIV…then woke up to a really, really bad mood because of…let’s just think of “Blame It on Me”.
- Monzie and Kevs cheered me up through their enlightening advice while at Animo Food Haus including “Eat some comfort food"
- Voila! I had Clover chips and mayonnaise!
- Hung out with the play peeps again at Amphi talking about all the random stuff
Friday (December 7)
- Photoshoot with my LR23 peeps at sixth floor of E. Razon for GREATWK final project!
- Full dress rehearsal for the play + bonding with the classmates!
- LOL at us while practicing the locker room scene =))
- While Monzie was singing Skyfall during our break, Migo started taking stolen videos of us dancing and singing!
- Shared gossip with Mon and Nica on the way home teehee >:)
Saturday (December 8) - THE BIG DAY!
- Che’s arrival from the UK!!!
- Met up with some of my classmates at the Yuch benches
- Mcdo hot chocolate! <3
- Played around with the walkie talkies!
- Chaos at the dressing room!!!
- Sir Canoy dropped by backstage to wish us good luck!
- Lucky for us we got to attract a big audience in the William Shaw Theater Play for the play!
- Not to mention the good crowd response (especially at the gay bar, brawl, and locker room scene hahaha!)
- At the end of the play, the whole GENDERS class hugged each other on stage followed by good news from Sir Canoy…
- EVERYONE PASSED THE CLASS! \:D/
- Super fun dinner at Rice Taft Ave. with Monzie, Nica, Czar and Carlo!
- Dropped by Sherwood to hang out with some of our GENDERS classmates
- Nica and I killed the time waiting in South Gate by talking about a wide range of topics from class officers to school gossip (she didn’t know we both went to the same school until just recently)
- A Saturday well-spent <3
Sunday (December 9)
- Spent the whole afternoon editing the final project with TREDTWO groupmates at Coffee Prince
- Marquez shocked the world by knocking out Pacquiao!
- Opened my FB at midnight to see a bunch of friend requests
Monday (December 10)
- Happy Monday aka Post-GENDERS Syndrome since we did not have class in the beloved subject anymore :’(
- Helped out Monzie in her class evaluation since she was the director of the class play
- Epic morning in the lib with Czar, Nica, Monzie, Tisha, Kevs, Russ, and Migo!
- Spent the whole afternoon in the gazebo teasing Czar, posing like jejes, and playing "Who’d You Rather”?
- Last class in TRED where we watched this video…which we fell asleep on
Tuesday (December 11)
- Take home INTOECO finals (thank God!)
- Was supposed to get a 3 as my final grade in SPANONE but based on the computations I got 92.88 so my prof rounded it off to make it a 3.5!
- Visited the Henry Sy Hall for the first time to go to the registrar…
- …and it looked like A FIVE-STAR HOTEL DAMN!
- Unfortunately the escalators were as fast as turtles (sarcasm)
- Finished the dreaded and sweat-inducing Africa map test. Not fun.
- Plenary session in GREATWK
- The most legendary final exam ever: wait for 30 minutes, answer your teacher’s question in one word, and leave.
- As I was strolling around campus, Tisha called me to be interviewed for her GLOBDEV project
- After that the two of us spent precious time together from Coffee Bean to Henry Sy Hall
- Was supposed to meet Nica but I had an allergy so I went home early :(
- First time to go to The Fort and I had a great time courtesy of mi amigos! <3
- Watched The Hobbit + lurked around Fully Booked at Boni High Street + Sonja’s Cupcakes = a pumped up happy Thursday
- In the morning Che visited me at my house - a first in six years! I super missed that girl :“> Guess what she gave me?
- Tried out the Double Decker today which in turn exceeded my expectations! It’s worth the bucks!
Tomorrow I will be going to dentist to be followed by my much-awaited vacation to see my parents on Sunday morning. Once again I will be missing the Philippines for a month :( By the way make sure to tune in for my next two posts over the weekend. I’ll let you in a little sneak peek of what’s in store:
