The Arrival, Blogspot to Tumblr, Etc.

Before anything else, you can now view my blog entries from my Blogspot here on Tumblr! Just click on Throwback Posts from Blogspot (from 2008) and you can read all of my stories dated way back in my freshman year of HS. How was I able to do this? Visit Blogger to Tumblr, input your Blogspot feed URL (http://yoursite.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default) and Tumblr URL then you are all set. Take note you could only import 100 posts per day.

Since class was suspended today, I will blog about Friday’s shooting for our first short film in VPRODUC entitled The Arrival among other things. We were all stoked the moment it was announced in that class last Wednesday upon discussion of the different camera movements. Our group, comprised of Monzie and Isab, patterned our short film after a story wherein a couple reunites in an airport after quite a time of the girl going overseas. Upon finalizing the details, by Friday morning we were all set for a filming adventure.

First location: Dangwa. Our male character (played by Isab’s friend Joe who is also a member of the Harlequin Theater Guild) buys a bouquet of flowers to give her girlfriend (played by our friend Gabe). People were staring at us the whole time we were at Dangwa because they thought we were making a big-budget blockbuster film to be released in theaters come Christmas season. In fact, one of the vendors even offered his co-vendor to play a role in our short film!

Second Location: Ninoy Aquino International Airport

Security was tight but thanks to a media relations officer we met we were able to shoot within the grounds of Terminal 2! Our shoot was a wrap thirty minutes later. To the media relations officer, I may not know your name but without you we would not have succeeded in filming inside the airport. Before we left NAIA, we had a little souvenir for ourselves as a reminder of our first short film:

Many thanks to my fabulous groupies Monzie and Isab, actors Gabe and Joe, and the vendors and officers for contributing to the success of our video production!

After that, Monzie and I headed back to school for a lunch at Tori Box which was then followed by our residency at the Green & White office. The afternoon was fun because we sang our hearts out courtesy of The Voice app on Pau’s iPad while sharing dozens of laughs. I loved them from the very beginning but it grew more after the teambuilding last September 13 and 14 which by the way was a blast! It was our beloved associated editor’s birthday so happy birthday again Donna!

Two days after Apple released iOS 7 to the public, I became part of the 30% who updated their devices to the much-anticipated software update. And it did not disappoint me with its neat and sleek user-interface even though it took me ten minutes to adapt to the new look!

Let's Get Random, Shall We?

Should thcandydoll return to Blogspot where everything began?

On Sunday morning,  I opened my old Blogspot account because I was torn whether I should import all my posts from this Tumblr to Blogspot (where the site I used to own was housed) or not. As much as I enjoy sharing my personal thoughts on the website I learned to love, at that time I thought of returning to where it all began because I missed it so much. Just when I was about to continue the process, I realized one distinct thing I cannot absolutely do on Blogspot: reblog posts that can serve as fillers every time I have nothing to share about my life. Besides, why abandon Tumblr if I have earned a respectable following since I landed my feet on this cyberspace? Right now I am sitting in my bed wearing a pink hoodie I’ve owned since first year high school and typing this entry in the blogging platform we all spend our owl-foresaken hours.

While girls my age are drooling over One Direction and boys turning into werewolves, my attention is on my newfound love for hockey players and the sport itself. And it all began last summer.

Call me an alien or anything but I would pick an attractive and skilled hockey player over any member of the band any day. Nothing against 1D though; in fact I admire their tightness on and off stage and the loyal fans who support all five of them instead of just one member (remember Justin Timberlake and N*SYNC?). It’s just that my preferences differ from many girls my age these days. Back to hockey players: it’s perfectly normal to find some of them attractive but it should not be the reason why you are a fan of the sport. A friendly reminder coming from someone who got introduced to the sport officially this summer: you are watching a game, not a male beauty pageant. It’s the National Hockey League, not the National Handsome League. If I watched hockey only to see how dreamy the players are, I would have stopped supporting the Pittsburgh Penguins only because of their forgettable series against the Boston Bruins in this year’s Stanley Cup Eastern Conference Finals (don’t remind me about that it still hurts but I’m glad Chicago won the Stanley Cup). Win or lose, I remain supportive of them even though they lost two games in the preseason to the Red Wings and the Blue Jackets huhu. Thanks to Youtube, Bleacher Report, and the fandom on Tumblr and even Twitter, I learned to appreciate hockey more than those pretty faces; rather, it is a sport just as exciting as basketball except it is on the ice. I’ve made a resolution to myself: I shall be fully updated with what’s happening to the hockey league beginning this season.

*daratdatdatdadadadat* Just search for the hockey tag if you really want to know what I’m talking about. I would not mention names anymore, but without being a puck bunny all I have to say is there are lots of players who are offsprings of beauty and brawn in the league. Never ever go to a game in a wedding dress like this lass down here (and this is coming from a Sidney Crosby fan):

Trust me, there are more of these fan signs all over the Web. Many of them are straight-up hilarious.

There she was just walking down the street singing doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy doo

Odd fact: I’ve been listening to that song for a week now. Blame this radio station for playing that in one of their segments on Monday last week. Hearing the Manfred Mann’s signature hit always reminds me of My Girl (the movie) and Ang TV (theme song) because it was largely used there. Please don’t judge me for finding pleasure in songs from the fifties and sixties.

Save the iPhone 5C for next Christmas or on my 21st birthday, eh?

I love my current phone so much even though 4S, 5, and now 5S and 5C are the reigning hot commodities in the smartphone market. Why swap it for a newer model when mine is still working perfectly and beautifully? I’d love to snag the pink one if given the chance though :)

That’s all for now folks! Before I bid adieu, let me leave you some words of wisdom from Dr. D during our first meeting in INSERCH: “It’s not about time. It’s all about self-respect and discipline.” So do not rush things. Make the most out of the minutes in creating an exemplary, well-made output. Squandering precious time would let you lose your chance at what would have been inedible pieces of knowledge.

NOTE: I still haven’t updated my phone to iOS 7…aaaaaand I AM SO STOKED FOR THIS YEAR’S UAAP BASKETBALL’S FINAL FOUR.

Guess Who's Back, Guess Who's Back, Guess Who's Back

The title of this blog post is written that way because I am literally back in the world of personal blogging (other than threedaystobelovelyy, urgh, I mean glossandshutters but more about that after the jump). First term was tenacious yet the lessons I’ve learned from Sir Gary, Sir Doy, Sir Jimmy, and Miss Eva made me proud to be a Communication Arts major. The workload may have been heavy; the demands may have been perspiring, but the lessons they’ve taught us prepared us for the future. I am blessed to have met them for they willingly shared to us their prowess in the field of mass communication. Each one of them taught us the value of creativity, perseverance, and succinct thinking. From the very beginning, they told us repeatedly that majoring in AB-CAM is not a piece of cake. Just like life itself, we have to start from scratch. Any form of procrastination is strictly prohibited in this degree program. Although the road may have been tough, I am fortunate to be one of the very few who have been mentored by a roster of excellent, precise, dedicated professors like them. Their values sealed my preparation for the real world.

I’m honored to have taken my first four majors (INTBROD, INTFILM, MASSCOM, and FOTOCOM) under these gifted professors who further cultivated my growth as a girl with a dream to work in the media industry upon graduation. Thanks to Miss Eva, I became a more open-minded member of the broadcasting audience. Thanks to Sir Gary, I have realized that mass communication theories are truly useful and not as vapid as it sounds because his stories on basketball and everything around the campus made our lectures interesting. Thanks to Sir Doy, I became a better film critic with a broad appreciation for local and foreign cinema. And thanks to Sir Jimmy, I can now produce photos of better quality thanks to my newfound knowledge on aperture, shutter speed, and exposure. (On a random note: I never used the auto setting of my SLR since FOTOCOM.)

INSERCH, VPRODUC, INTPRIN, and TREDFOR: I’m ready for you!

Speaking of the past few weeks…

Tita Friendship came to the Philippines for a visit and along came these goodies from my mom! Two pairs of the low cut sneakers I’ve been dying to have since forever and tops from F21 and Mango!

Are you looking for a cheap yet sultry-tasting donut? Cafe de Seoul’s Creamy Cookie Crush is the answer to your question! I bought this delicious treat for only P55 and ate this while watching Atonement with da BFF Monzie <3 This was the exact photo I uploaded on Instagram around two weeks ago…and was shocked with the number of likes it received.

The day Monzie and I had our FOTOCOM portfolio photos printed, she treated me to Krispy Kreme’s ever-famous glazed donuts, the successor to another supercalifragilisticallyyummy dish we had for lunch:

It’s never too late to read something new! My invigorating need to read a book during the term break finally gave in when I read (and finished) Percy Jackson: The Sea of Monsters in less than 48 hours! I’ve always wanted to read Rick Riordan’s bestselling series largely due to friends talking about how much they love it. So when I saw the Percy Jackson series in my cousins’ room, I did not hesitate to turn the page and immense myself into the incredulous adverntures inside Half-Blood Camp and the Sea of Monsters. After reading this, I can say I am part of the club of those who have read a Percy Jackson book although I’ve never watched eitherThe Lightning Thief or The Sea of Monsters

A typography I made out of The Cranberries’ song Dreams using the Studio Designs app on iOS. To all iPhone users out there, download it free on the App Store and hone your creative juices!

I spent the whole term break at Cavite with my cousins, Tito Dilts, Tito Rodel and Tita Janet, Lola Nel, and Lolo Manny and Lola Glo! Abby and Reese love the camera as much as I do, and the photo above is very self-explanatory.

Meet the family dog from Cavite, Dwende (or Dendeng?!). Those hazel eyes brighten up everyone’s day, don’t you think?

Selfies taken by Monzie after our studio photography session in FOTOCOM! Gonna show you more in a later post :)

Let’s not forget about my second term schedule:

image

No need to point it out how suckish my Monday and Tuesday schedules are. First time ever to have a class beyond 6PM thanks to INTPRIN, but hey, it’s a rite of passage in becoming a certified Communication Arts student in Taft!

ANNOUNCEMENT: I’ve changed my reblog site URL from threedaystobelovelyy to glossandshutters! Mind you, it took me around 45 minutes to come up with this title.

ANOTHER ANNOUNCEMENT: All the sleepless nights I endured last term were worth it because I made the Dean’s List once again! This would have to be my most unexpected of all especially since all of my subjects were majors and they weren’t the typical subjects you want to slack off. Either way, I can give myself a pat on the back for an incredible first term - the best since 2011. For the past two years, first term sucked academically but now the First Term Curse has been broken with this achievement! :)

MIA

Dear reader,

I sincerely apologize for the lack of personal posts during the entire month of August. I was fed up with a lot of things especially majors. Now I’m about to face another term of video production, research, and print, I hope you would understand my incapacity to blog 24/7. This is a note to let you know thecandydoll is still up and running - yes, stay tuned for my posts on everything that has happened the past month!

Oh, and thank you also for keeping up with my life through Twitter, Instagram, and my reblog site. :)
