Gratata.

Allow me to scribble some stuff in bold and uppercase. I believe someone is sharing the same thoughts as mine as of the moment now that the San Antonio Spurs and the LA Kings have their championship rings:

NO NHL AND NBA UNTIL OCTOBER (SEPTEMBER IF YOU COUNT PRESEASON).

Welp. All I’m stuck with is UAAP Basketball and my only hope for this season is to see the DLSU Green Archers repeat as champs. Better yet, I’ll just binge on the movies and TV shows stored in my hard drive until the preseason kicks off on September to drive away my raging school spirit with all the rivalry match-ups in the next three months. Don’t forget the bandwagoners, the breakout stars, and the Twitter overreactions. One thing is guaranteed through it all: I support my school’s basketball team in victory or defeat.

In other news, I’ve been watching Teen Wolf, Friends, and Orange is the New Black lately. Since it’s the offseason, I shall watch as many episodes as I could so at least I have something to invest in while waiting for the new season to begin.

Just a few things about my life these past few days:

  • Watched Heathers and Himala in NARATIV and WRIFILM respectively

  • I may be late to the party but The Fault In Our Stars was so good although I didn’t bawl like a baby and a sleeping lady sitting at my back snored so loud all throughout the film

  • Lana Del Rey’s new album “Ultraviolence” is soothing to the ears

  • Best pop anthology I’ve heard in a long time.

  • The evolution from man to jellyfish as illustrated by Fatboy Slim in “Right Here, Right Now”

  • Dark chocolate shake at Mini Stop is my current cheap thrill

  • Maleficient was…disappointing. I’ve been waiting for this since summer, and my expectations were not met once it came out. It leaned towards the Frozen storyline more than Maleficent’s character.

  • A piece of advice from a Comm Arts senior: do your homework a few days in advance to avoid the temptation of cramming. I’ve developed this habit partly because I only meet my majors once or twice a week but mostly because I want to take time to prepare my requirements.

  • I cannot wait for this year’s Student Media Congress this July 25-26!

  • Buzzfeed quizzes are the bomb.

For some sports thoughts now that the champions have been crowned:

Summer 2014: Marina Bay, Merlion and Johor Bahru

image

First stop: the Sentosa Merlion. To tell you the truth, I only learned the one in Sentosa wasn’t the main tourist attraction because of my tito’s comment, “Isn’t the real Merlion in Marina Bay since the one we’re visiting doesn’t sprout water?” Anyways, we enjoyed visiting the place because we got to experience the skyride. It was so scary up there I screamed so loud andI couldn’t turn back for the fear of losing my shoes. Still it was a great experience overall!

Monster in a trash can? I could live with that!

These two girls are among my all-time favorite models. Oh, did you know that they love The Voice’s Christina Grimmie so much they watched her Q&A video a dozen times?

Selfie on the way down the skyride!

An hour later, we met up with my mom then my dad around dinnertime at Marina Bay Sands. Snapshots below:

Finally, a long overdue family photo at the real Merlion!

Our final stop before the summer vacation officially ended was in Johor Bahru where we dined in at the Grand Straits Seafood Restaurant. Their food was simply the best! I would love to return to that place in the future.

Then there’s this precious carousel right around the corner to remind me of the good ol’ days:

One word to describe this summer: REMARKABLE.

Summer 2014: Universal Studios

Late post thanks to the sudden gush of schoolwork I’ve been dealing with since I returned to Manila on Tuesday last week :( Because I took many photos from trips to various destinations during the last few weeks of my summer vacation, I will take the travel blogging process one by one to avoid the risk of draggy, lengthy entries. First on the list: my trip to Universal Studios!

I tagged along with my cousins at my first visit at the place since 2011. My fear for rollercoasters and heights was tested thanks to the Revenge of the Mummy, the Shrek Dragon, and Canopy Flyer. I almost backed out of Transformers 3D but thank goodness I didn’t because I had the best time ever! So far, Transformers and the Jurassic Park’s Rapid Adventure count as my favorite attractions there.
