The perfect caption for this photo: pepperoni and Hawaiian heaven! <3

Thursday was the first time I ate in Yellow Cab after many months. When Monzie told us she would treat us there for dinner as part of her belated birthday celebration, I was really excited because I missed savouring their delicious pizza. Right before dinner, we sat in Kevs’ HUMAART class to watch this old Pinoy thriller entitledItim. It wasn’t really that frightening because the story didn’t give me the shivering feeling. At around 6 PM, we walked to Yellow Cab for Monzie’s birthday dinner where we had pepperoni and Hawaiian pizza accompanied by Charlie Chan chicken pasta. The pizzas were so mouth-watering I loafed about six or nine slices the whole time while eating the pasta. Hungry much, you can say. As soon as the dinner was over, we headed to Starbucks only to find out there were no more cinnamon rolls for the day so off we went to Mcdo and in South Gate where we stayed for a while before heading home.

Thank you Monzie, Kevs, and Tisha for this wonderful dinner!

There are only so many of us born at a time and we are thrown into the world to find each other, to find the other ones who don’t think you’re strange, who understand your jokes, your smile, the way you talk.

There are only so many of us born at a time and we only have so long to find each other before we die.

But we have to try.

Within fifteen minutes, I ransacked the “Friends” folder of Quinn (my laptop) to put together some pictures to show what a year it has been since I became friends with this particular person.  There is one girl with long brown hair and full bangs who is in each one of the photos of this collage. She is Monzie, one of my closest girlfriends in college and my entire life, and one of the people who made me realize I have no regrets in studying in Taft. I would not have survived and enjoyed the first year of my college life without her. She’s one of the people who encouraged me to embrace my flaws as opposed to being a perfectionist and helped to come out of my nutshell. Unlike before, I had few to no photos with people other than myself and my family. But last year changed everything. Aside from snapshots with my beloved HS friends and classmates at various events, the best of freshman year was captured by her golden command, “Guys, picture tayo!” Shopping and gimmicks will never be fun without her fabulousness. What a difference a year truly makes - I will always credit her as one of the people who lit up my social life and perception in life. What words could I describe the girl named after Leonardo Da Vinci’s most famous painting? Monzie is one of the greatest people you’ll ever meet. She’s stylish, witty, hilarious, a talented singer, and someone you won’t regret meeting when you sit on your rocking chairs accompanied by a cap of white hair. Thank you to the big man upstairs for giving me a unique individual like her. Everyone around her is truly lucky to have met her because of her spectacular character.

To one of my girlfriends for life, partner-in-crime, shopping buddy, BBM twin…happy 18th birthday! Love you and always will ❤

A Real-Life Noah's Ark

Who would’ve thought there would be a calamity with a worse effect than 2009’s Ondoy? See the pictures for yourself.

Along with the pictures were the tweets surrounding the link between Genesis 8:7-12 (Noah’s Ark) and the date 8/7/12:

Photos and statements in 140 characters or less are not enough to express what the Philippines had experienced the past week especially last Tuesday. Just like the calamities before that like Milenyo, Peping, Basyang, Sendong, etc., the huge flood that struck country has changed more than a million Filipinos’ lives. In comparison to the story of Noah’s Ark, it didn’t flood for forty days and forty nights but the amount of rainfall that day was as great as the one in the said story. Because of what happened, our country was immersed in a polluted Pacific Ocean. Many houses were destroyed, many families were forced to evacuate, classes were cut off, electricity was spared for the safety of every living household.

On that Tuesday, my family had to live in darkness for seven hours as a result of our power being cut off to avoid electrocution. We had to bear the unstoppable downpour of rain from morning to night. To make matters worse, our dining table and kitchen were flooded ankle-deep which was the same occurrence during typhoon Ondoy. The situation was so shattering my mom called us up all the way from overseas to check on us and friends texted us. Luckily for us, our family was complete when it happened. Thank God our house was neither completely flooded nor destroyed by the great flood. We may live without electricity for seven hours just as long as our family is together and well.

Together we pray for the Philippines most especially to all those affected from this calamity.
