I’m glad to see them together again since 500 Days of Summer! I watched this while waiting in First World Hotel in Resorts World Malaysia minutes ago. Thanks to Yahoo! and Tumblr, I got to watch this video - and glad I did! They look cool together, don’t they?

This might be my last post for 2011 because I’ll be rocking around Resorts World Genting the whole New Year’s Eve today. Hold your horses, my review of 2011 will be up by tomorrow on January 2.

Happy New Year everybody! May we all have a prosperous 2012! Thank you everyone for the awesome year! :)

8. One lesson I learned in both high school and college: don't waste your time on a person who turns out to be nothing but a fluke.

I’ve been there and done that just like majority of the teenage population. I’ve been attracted to anyone who fit the description of the “ideal one”, but in the end all of them weren’t all that cracked up to be. I’ve been blindsided over their futileness. At first sight, they were approachable, sincere, and jolly. But when I got up close and personal with them, they turned out to be the opposite: shallow, oblivious of one’s feelings, and cynical. What a tomfoolery for me not to examine the contents of the bottle. It plain sucks to know when you find out that the one you’ve been daydreaming all night and fantasize to marry in 20 years is all smoke and mirrors. The one who fuels your fantasies is a dashing prince on the facade but a self-absorbed moron in reality. Whenever I look back at those moments, I would laugh it all off and tell myself that I should rejuvenate my energy on other more important things rather than finding my own leading man.  As some of my friends always said, having a boyfriend is not everything. As cliche as it sounds, there are plenty of fish in the sea.

Long time, no thoughts? You bet.

Thank God for standardized tests. Otherwise you’d never know who your real friends are.

The Candydoll on Tumblr

Hi guys!

I missed this old blog of mine that’s why I updated the layout and made a post.

If you’re looking for my new blog, just click on The Candydoll in the navigations above. :)

“You’ve missed your childhood if you’ve never tasted Nutella.”

Just this Christmas vacation, I began to develop another food addiction and that is with Nutella. You can eat Nutella in several ways: eating it straight from the jar (which I do all the time), make it as your sandwich spread, have it as the dip of your junk food, and such. Nutella turned into my best buddy whenever I’m sitting in front of the laptop and watching a bunch of shows online. Who doesn’t agree that this is God’s gift to food lovers? I don’t have an addiction to chocolates unlike most people my age, but Nutella is the only exception. If not for that big jar in the kitchen of my parents’ flat, I wouldn’t have gained weight this Christmas! >:)

Now let me tell you about the events that took place between Christmas Eve and last night:

Christmas Eve - Mom and I went to Ion Orchard to do a little strolling which included a trip to Forever 21 and Mango. I forgot where we had lunch :)) We devoured on one large chocolate cupcake and a mocha frappuccino from Starbucks. After that, we went home and slept for a while before meeting up with dad once again at Ion Orchard. The three of us had lunch at a very yummy restaurant outdoors that served authentic cajun chicken and feisty baked potatoes. Subsequently, we had a long walk to a mall with a Forever 21 store to buy a sweatshirt. I was supposed to buy a Tinkerbell sweatshirt but we saw Sleepy and Kermit sweatshirts so I changed my mind. Out of my dad’s suggestion, I bought the Kermit sweatshirt! Before we returned to the flat, we bought some food for the Media Noche that night.

I’ve mentioned in my tweets that the flatscreen TV got busted so there was no way to entertain ourselves except the Internet and going outdoors. But on Christmas Eve, my dad urged to bring out the old TV and turn it on. Boom! It worked, and it made my dad so happy because he can watch his favorite action movies on cable again.

While waiting for Media Noche to be served, I was overwhelmed with the flood of Christmas greetings on Twitter and FB. Not to mention about my constant tweet spamming that night :)) For the meal, my dad prepared us chicken wings and rotelli pasta. It was so yummy we were full, and we went to bed at approximately 3 AM.

Christmas Day - Daytime was a total snooze; all we did was to sleep and park ourselves in front of the TV the whole morning and afternoon. At around 8 PM, we went to Marina Bay Sands and had dinner at Makansutra. Boy, the calamares there was the best and softest of its kind that I’ve ever tasted. I also loved the cereal prawns! When dinner ended, we had a photowalk at the Marina Bay, complete with the flashing lights. We managed to catch the last MRT train to Redhill at around 11:30 PM. On the sidenote, I was glad to hear the voices of my dad’s family back home in Cavite:)

Yesterday - Mom and dad’s restday from work! In a surprise turn of events, mom booked tickets for the whole family to see Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at the Tiong Bahru Plaza. I was hyped to go to the cinema since I haven’t been in any since August during my blockmates’ double birthday bash at the Galleria. I really enjoyed the movie, and I think it’s the best among the four movies under the Mission Impossible serial.Due to my long period of sleep last night, I fancied myself to playing Tap Studio 3 on my mom’s iPhone and reading blogs until the wee hours of the morning.

Today was pretty dull. Why are all Tuesdays lame? I went outdoors only to buy my lunch and take mom to dinner downstairs. Mehhhh. I slept twice, first from 2-3 PM then 6-8. I even took an early dinner just to snooze everything off. Now, I wish tomorrow would be a better day.

Meet my new baby / laptop Quinn! Dad was supposed to buy me a Macbook Pro but I told him that I wanted a Sony Vaio Y instead. So yesterday, we went to Bugis and got this kick-arse lappy! One happy kid right here :)

Merry Christmas readers! Happy Holidays!

P.S. To all the people who greeted me via FB, Twitter, Tumblr, and text - thank you very much! <3 >:D<

A Dream Come True ☺

One reason I’m loving my life now:

THANK YOU GOD <3

Words cannot express how happy and blessed I am with my newest achievement. I didn’t expect this to happen, especially with my SCIENVC grade which almost ruined my chance to be a Dean’s Lister. After all the sleepless nights in front of my laptop finishing final papers and video projects, all the catastrophic events during lectures, and the endless cramming for our tests, my hard work finally paid off. In addition to that, I got this wonderful news with Christmas just around the corner. However, the road to this achievement wasn’t a bed of roses as mentioned above.

Let me take you back to the start, shall we?

The dream of becoming a DL began in my first term of college. Actually, it was dad who motivated me to push myself to the honor roll even at least once. I already didn’t make it to the honor roll in high school and I won’t let it happen again in college. So in the first term, I tried to study hard in order to make my desired grades. Unfortunately, I didn’t get what I deserve despite all the effort I’ve put during the term. When the grades came out, I was really disappointed because I almost fell below the 2.5 GPA. On the contrary to my misfortune, many of my batchmates who went to DLSU made it into the Dean’s List. When I read about their achievement, I was really happy for them but I was also sad because I felt like I was the only one who didn’t make it.

“Just do your best and God will reward you in no time,” my mom advised me when I told her I fell short of the coveted 3.0 GPA. Surprisingly, my dad comforted me when he was supposed to act like the rage guy when I didn’t live up to his expectations.

Fast forward to the second term. I was having the time of my life in my freshman year in college - super cool blockmates (LR23), awesome loyal friends, and a kick-arse schedule. Life was never dull since then. Even with a social life, I never failed to balance it with my studies. For example, a paper due in a week would be accomplished four days before the deadline instead of the night before. In addition, no Facebooking or Tumblring (I tweet sometimes lol) while doing the paperwork to avoid any form of distraction that would repel me from my priority. Everything paid off with my satisfactory marks in my papers.

After all the sleepless nights, my isolation from my beloved blogs and social networks, the constant trips to the library, and the all-night researching, I finally got what I deserve. After millions of times reloading my MLS account, I saw the grades…and BOOM!

A 3.5 GPA :)

Thank you so much LR23 and friends, profs, parents, and Santa God for this wonderful Christmas gift!

My Awesome Week

I’m supposed to wake up one hour later to fix stuff before heading to the airport today. But insomnia kicked me in out of excitement; so you are getting the answer if you’re asking why I’m blogging at 4 AM when I’m supposed to be sleeping.

It’s obvious from the previous paragraph that I’m going abroad today. Yes, you’ve heard it right. I’ll be leaving for Singapore at around 10 AM and stay there for Christmas vacation - three weeks. When I get home on January 7, I’ll be with my dad. I hope he stays long for my 18th birthday. Moving on, last week was the best week I’ve had in a long time. Not only it was free-for-all (with the exception of Tuesday), it was also Hang Out With Your Friends Week.

Monday - I went to school at around 7 AM and met up with Monz to have breakfast at Mcdo. At around 8:30, we passed our KASPIL2 and INTHROP papers then waited for Tisha and Kev at South Gate. Suddenly, I the latter two asked me if I could come with them at Robinsons Midtown just to hang out. I said yes, but Monz wasn’t able to make it because she met up with someone (ehem! :“>). So we went to Midtown. I had yummy pork chao fan at Chowking, tried my hands out on a bunch of computer games (including the Command and Conquer fail) and picked up a snack at Krispy Kreme.

Tuesday - INTGLOS orals + another day at Midtown with the same peeps but this time also with Monz and her guy :) First, we had lunch at Animo Food Haus and Agno. At around 1 PM, we headed to William Hall for our INTGLOS orals. The weather was so excruciating I wanted to tie my hair but I didn’t have an elastic band :/ The orals went smoothly, with me as the third examinee. I was curious what Sir Punzalan’s smirk meant when I finished with my speech on poverty and development. At around 2:30, the five of us headed to Midtown where we played games and hanged out at Razon’s. However, Monz and I were really hungry so we ordered take-out at Chef d'Angelo. While we were eating, Kev was staring at our food so he ordered one from the same restaurant in order to satisfy his cravings :))

Wednesday - Waltermart before hangout at Monzie’s crib! Had two party-sized pizzas, mojos, and chicken from Shakey’s. Made chocolates while waiting for our order to be delivered =) After eating, we watched X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men: First Class. We didn’t get to finish First Class because it was already dinnertime so we ate again and shared a lot of hilarious stories over dinner. At 8:45, Tisha’s dad brought me, Tish, and Kev home. When I got home, I was so dead-tired I dozed off to sleep.

Thursday - My one and only lazy bum day of the week :)

Friday - UST Paskuhan with my HS friends! I was supposed to meet with Khar but due to signal problems, we weren’t able to see each other :( But still, I was able to meet up with some of my IV-3 girls >:D< That night was also my first time to attend Simbang Gabi, and it was astonishing to see that gorgeous display of fireworks! Glad to see a lot of Theresians too ;)

All the other kids with the pumped up kicks you better run.

While I was having lunch at KFC yesterday during this horrendous clash of thunder of rain, I heard Foster The People’s “Pumped Up Kicks” playing over the stereo; it felt so good and made me energetic the whole time. I wasn’t familiar with the song until my blockmates played its official video on YouTube a few minutes before our professor in ENGLSTRESS arrived. Now I know how it got 45 million views - because it’s such a vivid song to love for the ages. I was really astonished when I found out the song was inspired from the incidents of school shootings around the world.

This past week, I didn’t open my Facebook and Tumblr for three days - that’s why my main Tumblr is spamming all of your dashboards right now. Who knows, I might be busy again tonight and tomorrow to finish my KASPIL2 and INTHROP final papers :/ But because I love my followers and friends so much, I took a rest from studying and now I’m updating everything for the purpose of not leaving it in the dark.

Yes, I wasn’t online because it was hell week. However, I wouldn’t have survived without the help of my friends and blockmates! Thanks y'all! :) Now let me breakdown everything that happened last week:

  • Monday - Finished the FILDLAR final documentary video, starting from 7 PM to 6 AM (with a short nap at 2:30 AM then woke up at 3). It was one of the rare instances I did this in college. Back in HS, my latest sleeping time was 1:30 AM. But what I did on Monday night until Tuesday morning was whoa. For almost 12 near-sleepless hours, I was friends with Windows Movie Maker and YouTube.

  • Tuesday - FILDLAR final documentary video presentation day! I’m so happy we got a 94!! Thank goodness our (sleepless) efforts were rewarded with something wonderful like this! :)

  • Wednesday - Before going to school, I went to DSWD to get my travel clearance. The rest of the day was cool even with the Chem LQ - mojos at Animo Food Haus then a laughtrip over the newest Chico and Delamar book @ NBS ;)

  • Thursday - Last INTHROP meeting, had another laughtrip over Chico and Delamar while waiting for Tisha and Monz to finish their INTGLOS orals, lunch at Cerealicious, did the ENGLSTRESS final paper from 9 PM to 3:30 AM

Yesterday was the bomb. Morning was pretty lame because I didn’t get to attend the last FILDLAR session because I made final touches to my ENGLSTRESS final paper in the lib. At around 12:30, I met up with some of my blockmates at U-Mall then Mcdo. At Mcdo, we didn’t realize it was 10 minutes before ENGLSTRESS class, so we rushed to the elevator. Even though we arrived in the classroom at around 2:50, the prof wasn’t still there. At the same time, our block was in chaos because 1) a small cockroach was hanging in the ceiling, 2) after five months, Carol finally got our long-overdue block pics (haha!), and 3) it was the last day as LR23 :( Well, prof never came to the classroom but we didn’t waste time to have our final block pic taken. As soon as we got our final block pic, some headed to the 15th floor to submit our ENGLSTRESS final papers.Meanwhile, some of my blockmates and I stayed in the classroom and had some of our epic moments:

1. (Monz and I singing Lady Gaga’s “You and I”)

Me: Something, something about this cool blank guy…

Fe: (staring at his laptop) Ewwww Candice ganun pala type mo!

Me: Ano??

Fe: Mahilig ka pala sa BLACK guy!!!!

2. Before Sofia left the classroom, I hugged her goodbye. This is what happened:

Me (to Sofia): Sana blockmates na lang tayo forever.

Andrea: (sitting in her chair) Eh di sabihin mo sa registrar!!! =))

3. Paulo and I were talking about our PE for the next term.

Me: Paulo, ano PE mo?

Paulo: Bird watching sa UP.

Me: Di nga! =))

Since Monz needed to buy something from the drugstore, we along with Kev and Tisha went to Robinsons’ Midtown. Monz got to buy something from Mercury Drug when there was no Watsons’ branch in that mall; and we had dinner at Wendy’s. Their chicken is foodtastic. While walking in the mall, we came up with this conversation about Justin Bieber - and it was hilarious!

Scenario 1:

Me: (pointing to the Under The Mistletoe cover) Guys, I’ll give you this album for Christmas.

Kev: NO. I’d rather have #%^#^&**%%’s dead head rather than a Bieber album!

Scenario 2:

@ The Perfect White Shirt

Tisha: (pointing to the Little Miss Bieber shirt) I don’t know why the hell he’s got his own shirt.

Kev: Hmmm…only Bieber’s little fans.

Scenario 3:

Me: To whom can I give the Bieber Christmas album in our block?

Kev: You can’t give it to any guy in our block because everyone hates him!

At around 7, I got home, had dinner, took a bath, checked my Twitter, then went to bed at 9PM. Overall, it was a fun day ;)

BTW, I’m going to Singapore in eight days!!!

Two Weeks Notice

Mediafire is really crappy right now - I’ve uploaded the same SCIENVC videos a hundred times already for a span of THREE hours.

Thanks to my very busy schedule, I failed to blog about what happened last week and this week. In bulleted form, let me tell you about what happened to keep you posted:

  • November 22 - Went to UP after class to shoot for our FILDLAR video. We’re glad that we’ve heard some ghost stories inside the campus.

  • November 24 - Super enjoyed this day! It was a road trip / FILDLAR video shooting in UST!

  • November 25 - Happy Friday with friends :)

  • November 26 - Last lab session + got a 4.0 as a final grade in LBYENVC! ;)

This week was hell because of the stack of requirements we have to accomplish for the last two weeks of the second term. In addition, a lot of things are due for NEXT WEEK. So if the past week was hell, then it would be more like it starting on Monday. In case you’re wondering why, here is the workload last week and this week:

  • ENGLSTRESS ENGLRES final draft, final paper, survey report, and tally sheet

  • KASPIL2 Final Paper

  • FILDLAR Final Documentary

  • SCIENVC long exam and final video project

  • KASPIL2 Book Review (just for extra points in my final grade teehee)

  • INTGLOS final oral exam

Before yesterday and today, I abandoned my Tumblr for four whole days. Twitter was the only social network I updated; I only used FB to greet people on their birthdays and check on group feeds. The longest I ever did in a school week, since I used to check on my dashboard every day after school last year. Call me a slacker, but that was back when I wasn’t thought everything would come in my way. But not anymore because the work was tougher than I ever imagined.

With this load I’m carrying right now, I am praying all of my efforts will be rewarded by a name on this term’s Dean List. I already have a 4.0 (my first ever!) in LBYENVC, but I am hoping that all the good grades would continue. Wouldn’t it be a fantastic Christmas treat to get in the DL for the first time? :)

To all of the people who are following both my main and personal Tumblr, I apologize if I won’t be spamming your dashboards again this week. Just as soon as hell week’s over, I’ll make a comeback. In the meantime, you can follow my Twitter for your daily dose of my life ;)

Photobooth with my college girls (Part 1)

11.22.2011

Baby you light up my world like nobody else.

I promised to everyone I’d be posting something about what happened during the past week last Saturday, but I was so lethargic I snubbed it off and moved on to schoolwork. Yes, the past two weeks have been an overload when it came to academics. Since it’s less than a month before the end of second term, we have to be more serious about making the grade. If you have noticed, I don’t reblog a lot of stuff on my main Tumblr as much as I used to because I’ve been preoccupied with so many things. I bet this is a rite of passage from a life of a kindergartner with three-hour afternoon naptimes to a real-time college freshman who spends four hours of finishing a two-question KASPIL2 essay all in one night. Thanks to my almost-full BDJ planner, I am now recollecting so many things that happened during the past two weeks, dating back from 11/11/11 to tonight.

11/9 - Photoshoot after watching a bit of Mr. and Ms. Fitness as an incentive for FUTSAL class!

11/11/11 - I was able to make a wish at 11:11 PM of 11/11/11. While others wished for more money and the perfect guy, I wished for a fit third term schedule with my friends. And I got it ;) Despite the lagged connection of the servers, I was able to enroll with my friends - and picked taekwondo for PE! Then at nighttime, I had a chat with my blockmates where we talked about a lot of hilarious stuff =))

11/14 - The only brightside of that boring day - a 94 on my INTGLOS midterms! \:D/

11/16 - Last FUTSAL class :( Now my Philippine Azkals aspirations are shattered =))))

11/17 - FILDLAR final project shooting day 1 @ school! Ghosthunting in the lib + hangout at the Amphitheater afterwards :)

11/18 - Before I got home, I was with my friends at the Animo Food Haus. Plus, Monzie and I got to ride in the LRT after ONE hour of painful waiting.

11/19 - For our FILDLAR class, we watched the Cinemalaya film entry Boses at the Yuch Auditorium. If you’re not familiar with the movie, I highly recommend you to download the film and be awed with the little violin prodigy despite of being mute after enduring years of abuse from his alcoholic father.

Today - Lunch at Mang Inasal, passed the KASPIL2 paper I accomplished for four hours a night ago, strolled around nearby campuses, and interviewed several people for our FILDLAR final project. Fuuuuun day! :)

And now, I’ve kept my promise to update you with what’s going on with my life. And now, let me go to bed.

11.20.2011

Just before I sign off, let me share the banners I made for this blog since last night.

I love Katy Perry’s new song The One That Got Away that’s why I was inspired to make this as the theme of my new layout.

allthedaysordained:

Madeline by Ludwig Bemelmans

I could vividly recall those days when I sat in the living room at my lola’s house, with calamansi juice and a banana on the table. The TV show that played in front of me was Madeline (hence the photo). Over the summer when I was ten years old, I would watch every single episode of this cartoon on Disney Channel. I was so infatuated with the cartoon I even wanted to live in Paris and own a house that was covered in vines. Plus, I learned to love the beautiful French language, thanks to Madeline and her friends. And who could forget this unforgettable lines at the end of each episode:

We love our bread,

We love our butter,

But most of all,

We love each other.

And they brushed their teeth and went to bed.

One thing on my bucket list: a DVD collection of all episodes of Madeline so I could revisit Summer 2004 again.

In 45 Minutes

In 45 minutes it would be 11/11/11.

In 45 minutes it would be ENROLLMENT DAY.

In 45 minutes I would find out whether my wish of having a fit schedule for the 3rd term with my friends would be granted or not.

In 45 minutes our block would have to play a game for the FUTSAL tournament  - roughly an hour before enrollment.

In 45 minutes I would learn of the fate of my last term as a freshman.

Will 2012 start with a bang or a dang?

Lord, please give me and my blockmates the schedule we want. We don’t want to start 3rd term with a bad schedule and without our friends.

I wish we were enrolled first (since our college has the most number of students) so that we have the best schedules. IT’S JUST NOT FAIR.

I cannot think of a title for this traditional-turned-digital artwork I made back in September.

Why is the universe torn into two perspectives: one good and one bad?

Today is one of the few “sappy” days I ever encountered this year. Everything turned out fine at first, then bad, then good again, and the cycle just evolved into redundancy. Why does it have to happen on a Friday?

The Good.

I arrived in school at around 7:30 and immediately headed to the university library to have my FILDLAR translation and ENGLRES interview report printed. Luckily, I was able to submit them during the day. Internet in the school was fast today, so I was able to check out a lot of updates on my social networking accounts. And I was able to taste Cream-O choco balls, thanks to Sash :) Plus, we had free period in KASPIL2!

The Bad.

During the free period in KASPIL2, I realized I forgot to bring a photocopy of the original text from the short story I translated for FILDLAR. I climbed down the stairs all the way from the 10th floor to go to the university library again. There were no more vacant computers when I arrived at the second floor; fortunately, two people logged out of their PCs so I was able to occupy one of them. And guess what?

I opened my email for nothing. I wasn’t able to secure a digital copy of the original text.

Frustrated, I went back to Andrew in time for FILDLAR class (11:20 AM). However, the line at the elevator was long. Because I was in a hurry to get back there, it was do or die: stairs or impatience. I took the first choice and I forced myself to climb up the stairs from the 1st to the 10th floor. Sickening, right?

The Ugly.

Someone thought I ruined the day. :| When I learned that, I was really pissed but I didn’t want to show it. For the whole time, I was in a really foul mood and didn’t want to talk to anyone. I bet you’ve been wondering why based on what I wrote in the beginning of this post.

Enough for the bad and the ugly. How about focusing on the good vibes instead?

The Good (Again!)

Our KASPIL2 professor gave back two of our previous quizzes as well as our midterm grade. I was nervous because I was one of the last to finish the essay-type quizzes. It was better than expected.

I GOT A 3.5 AS MY MIDTERM GRADE!

And to add the excitement, I got a 100 in both quizzes! \:D/

Today is also Gox’s 18th! Since her ECONONE class is in the same room as ours, I always get to see her on Tuesday and Friday mornings at around 9:40. When I saw her, I hugged her and greeted her a happy birthday. Just a few hours ago, I wrote a really, really, long birthday post on her wall. I was psyched with her comments :))

Lunchtime was fun because of the Southern Fried Chicken in Gravy Fix and chill time at 7-Eleven afterwards. When I got home from school, I had tacos for snacks! Yummy but messy because of the staggering amount of oil and the overflowing meat and tomatoes.

Now that’s what you call a sappy day. It was, well, your average school day.

And as Budoy says so, be happy, be Budoy. :)

***It’s the only teleserye I occasionally watch on TV at present. I think it’s more entertaining and realistic compared to the other local dramas nowadays. No catfights, no rich vs. poor, no Cinderella romances.

This is what happens when you're bored and you're dreaming of cameras sailing away.

1028 - 102911: Happy Weekend!

October 28 was @thatmiserychick’s 2nd birthday and Free Cut Friday. After KASPIL2 class, my blockmates and I hit Robinsons Midtown. Initially, we accompanied Tisha to buy a pack of Yu-Gi-Oh cards to add to her growing card collection. But then it turned out to be a chill day for us! We had Hainanese Delights for lunch where I had Chicken Heaven and three servings of their delicious Java rice. This was followed by a visit to Powerbooks before Timezone (’s treat). In the arcade we played DDR, Wack-a-Mole, Tokyo Drift, and Street Fighter. The day wouldn’t have been perfect if not for our sundaes at Dairy Queen.

Some hilarious moments from that day:

  1. In Hainanese Delights, Kev was telling a story about their class retreat last year. He told some funny bit which made me choke and cough on the water I was drinking :P

  2. Jeline and I were “driving” in the Tokyo Drift game. She was really good with her driving while I kept on hitting the garbage cans and streetlights. Tisha saw everything and joked, “Candice, I’ll never get you as my driver!”

  3. Tisha and I really, really, failed in keeping up with the DDR dancers because the music was either too slow or too fast. LOL.

Last Saturday (October 29), it was the first STC Family Day without Seniors 2011. It was tempting to cut our last CWTS class so I could go there to see my HS batchmates, but I knew it was my responsibility to attend our NSTP sessions. Even though it was very depressing to hear about how much fun my batchmates had during Family Day, I had a little fun on my own. In LBYENVC, our whole block got perfect scores for our group photo essays. After that, my blockmates and I went to sit at benches near the Marian Quadrangle to chillax. At around 12:30, we headed to Andrew for our CWTS class.

The last CWTS class was super enjoyable even if we had a long test scheduled on that day. As a token of appreciation from our facilitator, each of us received a handcrafted bookmark. Before we headed home, we had dinner at KFC.

I really enjoyed last Friday and Saturday. Let’s do it again, college friends! :)

These shots were intended for our LBYENVC project - which turned out to be a mini-photoshoot.

Cause maybe you're gonna be the one who saves me

1. As evident in the title of this post, I am currently listening to Oasis’ signature song Wonderwall. This morning, it suddenly came to my mind and in a matter of time, I was already singing it and watching the official MV on YouTube.

2. Mojos with garlic dip from the Animo Food Haus <3 P35 is all worth it to buy a satisfying snack compared to…large fries?

3. I’m having a laughtrip chat with my mom right now. She ate mangoes with bagoong (her favorite) a while ago and I was kinda annoyed because she replied to my IMs slowly. As a result, I asked her if she’d replace me for an Indian mango. LOL!

4. We have free cut in FILDLAR and ENGLRES tomorrow!

5. My aunt and I are planning to watch Praybeyt Benjamin on Halloween. Yay!

Last Sunday, my dad ran a 25-km marathon sponsored by The North Face in Singapore. This is a photo of my old man (in the blue shirt) caught in the act. I’m glad that he continues to observe the importance of health even at the age of 40 ;)

102411: Guess What Happened A Year Ago? + Happy Monday

Today was definitely Happy Monday, different from all the Mondays the past few weeks.

First, it was INTGLOS oral midterms and I was the fifth one to speak in a one-on-one session with the prof. On the days leading to the oral exam, I practiced my speech and wrote info about realism on my queue cards. Minutes before the latter, I was trembling with fear accompanied by freezing palms. When my turn came along, I sat down calmly and delivered my speech on realism and its application in the global market. Luckily, I was able to reach more than 4:30 as well pointing out the important keypoints of the topic. After that, my blockmates and I headed to Gravy Fix for lunch then Mcdo for sundaes.

Second, I got an invite to Vertigo , a fund-raising party organized by the IMES (Industrial Management Engineering Society). It will be held on November 12 at the PICC Forum, and I would be with some of my blockmates. Boy, I’m so excited to attend my first-ever college party!

Third, I asked my parents a while ago for permission to attend Vertigo . They told me I could go only that I should be home by midnight. Despite the curfew imposed, I’m glad they let me go out on that day. Besides, no more midterms and CWTS C-1 would have ended by then since the last session would be this Saturday.

Fourth, on this day a year ago, I took the DLSU-CET, the last entrance exam I ever took. It was hassle because it was STC Family Day the day before and I spent it with my wonderful Lucky 9+1 friends. I think I was stationed at Room 14XX, and I was one of the early birds to arrive at the room. The test itself was a nightmare because it was mind-wretching. Little I knew the DLSU-CET would seal my fate and change my life forever.

Three months later, I was overjoyed when I found out I got accepted to a Big 4 school! It was January 3, a day away from my last-ever intrams.

Two months later, I confirmed my slot. It happened the day after graduation. On May, right before my Singapore escapade, I attended the LPEP and it was a blast to be with my future blockmates.

What do you think my life would have been had I not picked the green school?

100911: AVON Fun Run

The night after Ferica’s rockin’ debut rendezvous at Greenhills, I went to our PE class’ fun run. All FWSPORTS classes were required to attend the AVON Fun Run to 125,000 Kisses as a form of breast cancer awareness. At around 5 AM, I arrived at Mcdo Taft to meet up with Tish and Monz (who brought the carpool for the three of us). We got to SM Mall of Asia at 5:30 AM for the general assembly before the run took place. When we arrived, there were lots of froshies from different schools. Eventually, we were able to locate some of our blockmates.

The run took two hours, and we were very exhausted by the time we reached the finish line. By 9 AM, the three of us plus Kev went back to Mcdo Taft. However, Monz and her brother needed to get home so they  wasn’t able to come with us for brunch. In Mcdo Taft, Kev treated Tish and I to pancakes and chicken Mcdo because he was in the mood to do so :) The brunch was followed by a cinnamon roll in Starbucks then Robinsons Midtown to visit a comic con. I got home at around 11:30 AM and immediately climbed into my bed.

***Sorry for the late post because I wasn’t up for a blogging mood the previous week. On the other hand, it was the best week I’ve had in such a long time ;)

100811: A Debut to Remember @ C3 Events Place

The last two years of high school would just be a memory if not for these people ♥

18 Cheers to Teenage Dreams ♥

Last Saturday, October 8, my gorgeous HS classmate Ferica celebrated her debut at C3 Events Place in Greenhills. To begin with, Gox and I met up at Mcdo Taft at around 6 PM where we waited for her dad to pick us up. When it finally arrived, the two of us fixed ourselves up and did our makeup. After a litany of directions on how to get to the place itself and getting stuck in the traffic, we finally arrived at around 7:45 PM. As soon as we got out of the car, we were greeted by our batchmates and the IV-3 girls with compliments about how my dress looked amazing and how much weight I’ve lost the past year. As for the wacky Iya, she teased me about attending the debut in St. Peter’s because of my black dress. Haha! For the first time since graduation last March, I got to see my GS friend Cellia! We spent minutes talking about her One Direction fandom, my college life, and everything revolving our silly lives while waiting for the program to begin.

The party began at around 8:20 PM. We watched a video slideshow of photos from the debutante as a baby to the present. We were in awe when outtakes from her debut photoshoot were presented because it looked like a real magazine photoshoot from Vogue. I wonder when can I come up with something as breathtaking as this. So after the video, Ferica came out in her astonishing purple dress to the tune of Fergie’s “Glamourous”. From that moment, we finally got the idea why we were forbidden to wear anything pink or purple.  Several minutes after that, we had a dinner of garden salad, penne pasta in tomato sauce, paella (my favorite from the event), roasted chicken, and creme brulee! I wanted to get more of the penne and paella but I was kind of embarrassed since there were lots of guests in attendance. Despite having one serving each only, I was able to satisfy my cravings. During the dinner, all of us invaded the photobooth.

We were then treated to a surprise number by no other than the “Christmas in Our Hearts”  hitmaker himself, Jose Mari Chan! It was interesting to know that Jose Mari is her godfather even though she never mentioned anything about him back in our HS days. Anyhow, his voice was very pleasant and sounded as amazing as it is on record. The 18 Roses part made many of us guests tear up because all of the men in her life danced with her. Suddenly, in the middle of her dance with her dad, they performed to Barbie Girl! Seeing the father-daughter tandem made me miss my dad and our hilarious moments together ♥

What’s with a party without the upbeat stereo, the camera flashes, and dancing until the break of dawn? That’s right! All of us spent the whole night breaking out in the dance floor while everyone took pictures of those delirious moments. After about an hour and a half of dancing and music, the party officially ended at 12:30 AM. We spent the rest of the night chatting with our old classmates and our newfound Thomasian friends. We had bonding time at Mcdo Greenhills right after and eventually Alecs’ parents brought Gox, Ja, and I home. When I got home, I immediately uploaded the photos. Surprisingly, I got bombarded with 4 friend requests and 57 notifications on Facebook roughly ten hours after the party.

Don’t stop make it pop, DJ blow my speakers up

Thank you IV-3, batchmates, UST friends, and of course the debutante herself for an ecstatic and unforgettable night! Looking forward to the next birthday celebrations with my HS friends ♥

100611: LASARE1

I wasn’t able to blog about this last Thursday because I was so tired when I got home from the retreat house. In contrary to what Lasallian freshmen (past and present) say about the LASARE1 that it’s boring as hell, it was FUN. It was better than I expected - not much of lectures, lots of games, delicious food, and lots of bonding time with friends and blockmates. No pictures for this because we weren’t allowed to bring a camera :( Albeit this, everything was awesome from the beginning of the recollection up until the very end.

Highlights of the day:

  • Played this game where our block was divided into four groups. Each were named as the following: Volleyball Spike, Swimming Dive, Basketball Shoot, and Football Kick (the group I ended up with). Turned out everyone won :)

  • We had two snacktimes and lunch. For the morning snacks, we had pancit. Pork steak, turon (one for each person) and veggies were up for lunch while sandwiches were served in the afternoon.

  • We had a skit activity that was so entertaining to watch

  • The best part of the day: 90-MINUTE LUNCH PERIOD! Was inside a secret room with a bunch of blockmates where we spilled secrets. Yes, LOTS of secrets >:)

  • Enjoyed talking to the priest during confession where he gave me lots of great advice

  • At the end of the day, we had Mass. Unfortunately, something happened which lead us to the making of our individual LASARE1 reflection paper due the following morning.

Thank you LR23 for that Happy Thursday! I hope we’ll all be in LASARE2!

6. I don't get it why people are so obsessed with getting a huge number of likes on their Facebook profile pictures.

“Please like my profile picture and I’ll love you forever!” I don’t know why people make a fuss over it.

Based on my experience, I have schoolmates in FB who get 100 likes on their profile pictures. Some of them have breathtaking pictures that is why they deserve to get a staggering number of likes. In contrast, I get skeptical whenever I see average-looking girls’ photos with more thumbs-up than they are supposed to have. Worse, the more attractive girls don’t get as much attention as they receive when it comes to their DPs. The question comes to mind: is beauty measured by the number of likes you receive on your Facebook DP? Do you believe in the superficial statement (according to some)“The more likes you receive, the prettier you are whereas no likes means you’re ugly"

The answer is no.

A picture does not show who you are as a person. It may speak a thousand words but there is always a secret lying beneath the smile, the colors, and how the shot was made. There is so much more than that. You may have a thousand likes on your default image but it was made possible only with the help of Photoshop. Besides, being pretty is different from being photogenic. There are people who are gorgeous in real-life but look wasted in photos whilst some transform unbelievably on-cam albeit their average in-person looks. If you ask me, I’ve seen lots of people in both sides.

It’s okay to ask me to like your DP - only if it really is Facebook-worthy.

Wake Me Up When September Ends

September was, overall, a satisfactory month. It was a mix of ups and downs. The first two weeks were bad, but the tide turned in the latter days of the ninth month in the calendar. If you may have noticed, I don’t blog about my day in essay form anymore because I want to keep everything simple. What matters is not failing to leave the key events of the day in my post.

But first things first, it was Ondoy’s second birthday last September 26. However, history has repeated itself last Tuesday, when Pedring annoyed Meralco’s millions of customers all over the country.

Without further anticipation, let me tell you what happened on the clash of typhoon Pedring in the Philippine shores and last Friday’s lunch treat.

September 27

  • Woke up at around 6AM to a text that classes were suspended

  • As soon as I read the message and climbed back to bed, the power went off - and it went for six hours

  • While the electricity was out, I finished reading Jodi Picoult’s Nineteen Minutes

  • As mentioned above, the lights were back at 2PM and immediately checked my Twitter feed

  • My Twitter feed was DEAD because almost everyone had no Internet connection and electricity

The next day, classes were suspended once again in DLSU because of the power problems. That night, I got my monthly allowance and had a carefree dinner with my aunt in Jollibee.

Meanwhile, last Friday was superb. Tisha’s birthday is this Wednesday, but she decided to celebrate it on the last day of September since we had free cut in FILDLAR. Supposedly, she will treat us in Gravy Fix this Friday for a lunch of their tantalizing chicken and Oreo Sundae. However, the free cut caused her to change plans. Instead of Gravy Fix, Tisha treated my blockmates and I in TGI Friday’s, Robinsons Midtown. The eight of us had a great time feasting on a whole-sized Baby Back Ribs with yummy fries, two plates of Mozarella Sticks (my personal favorite next to Mushroom Chicken), nine (?) cups of rice, and fruitshakes. After the lunch, we went to Starbucks and chilled there to pass the time.

When I got home that afternoon, Tita Badette and I headed to SM San Lazaro for the 3-day sale. We wanted to look for affordable yet pleasant dresses and shoes which we didn’t get to find, however. Despite going home without a shopping bag, we enjoyed making rounds in the many stalls set up outside the stores. For dinner, I had Greenwich chicken with java rice and onion rings. Finally, after four hours, Tita Badette and I went home dead-tired but delighted over that sale.

Yesterday, the two of us went to Divisoria to buy a cheap pair of shoes. Luckily, we bought one for only P150. I won’t be posting the photo because I was forbidden to do so:/

This Saturday will be a IV-3 reunion because of Ferica’s debut in C3 Events Place, Greenhills. Because of her finals week, she wasn’t able to distribute the invites. But according to her, we’re welcome as long as we informed her party organizer of our attendance. I don’t have a green / yellow / red / blue party dress so I settled with this instead. BTW, my mom owns this ;)

In other news, I’m psyched for the following events this week:

  • Wednesday - CGEAT

  • Thursday - LASARE1

  • Saturday - Ferica’s debut / IV-3 reunion

  • Sunday - Avon Fun Run in SM MOA

“If you spent your life concentrating on what everyone else thought of you, would you forget who you really were? What if the face you showed the world turned out to be a mask… with nothing beneath it?” - Jodi Picoult

9.27.2011

Currently reading:  Nineteen Minutes (Jodi Picoult, author of My Sister’s Keeper)

“If you spent your life concentrating on what everyone else thought of you, would you forget who you really were? What if the face you showed the world turned out to be a mask… with nothing beneath it?”

I borrowed this book along with The Catcher in The Rye and The Bell Jar for pleasure and ENGLRES purposes. I started reading this compelling work of fiction yesterday morning several hours before my first class which was INTHROP. Today during those eight dim hours as a result of a power failure, I read more than half of Nineteen Minutes. To be honest, Jodi Picoult’s thrilling novel was the best 300+ pages I’ve ever read. Yes, even better than all four books of the Twilight saga. Not to mention I was enthralled with Picoult’s very impressive range of vocabulary words used in the book.

Allow me to narrate what happened on a productive Sunday:

  • First CWTS Exposure with LR23 and LC22 in Barangay Purok Dos, Dagat-Dagatan, Caloocan

  • Arrived at Harrison Plaza at around 6:40

  • Had taho

  • Our CWTS block was divided into three jeeps; luckily, I wounded up at the jeep with a built-in stereo

  • Tracklist: Teach Me How To Dougie, I Like It, Love The Way You Lie, Bass Down Low, Look At Me (Now), Love Me, etc.

  • Proceeded to the barangay hall as soon as we arrived at the place at around 9:30

  • Someone asked me if I’m studying in ADMU because several students were wearing their “I Love La Salle More Than…” shirt

  • Was with a really accommodating host family for four hours

  • On the jeep ride back to Taft, the stereo played ear-bleeding cover versions of Teenage Dream and Just The Way You Are

  • Was supposed to go to Zentea in the EGI Tower but was closed

  • Got home at around 5PM and hoarded to sleep in less than three minutes

Remember this picture? Hindi ko aakalain na almost one year na pala mula noong kinuha ito. Sorry sa ating jeje faces =)))

‘What is a friend? A soul dwelling in two bodies.“ - Aristotle

Two years later since it happened, I can still vividly remember the day we became classmates. It was the first day of third year then, and all of us experienced the aftershock of the batch reshuffle. You sat in my front since your last name goes ahead of me during the times where we have to seat in alphabetical order. I didn’t get to talk to you on that first day, though. But the next day, I got the courage to say hello to you. And as they say, the rest is history.  Naalala ko pa rin yong times na sabay tayo pumupunta sa harapan ng III-6 classroom kasi inaabangan ko yong mga busmates ko noon. Tapos habang naghihintay tayo, nagtatawanan tayo and nagkukuwento about everything. Kapag may problem ako, you were always there to give me great advice and vice versa.

Thank you very much for being one of the most wonderful friends I’ve ever met in my life. Salamat sa lahat ng pang-aasar mo about this and that (haha!), sa support mo through the best and worst times, and for being the friend with a sunshine smile. Thank you also for being a caring, loving, understanding, courageous, and unselfish friend. You possess numerous admirable traits that’s why a lot of people (including me) are so lucky to have met you. I will always remember every precious moment we spent together as friends - Seniors’ Night, Aly and Angel’s birthday last year, our daily breaktimes in the basement, outbounds, retreats, Bandfest (because S6T was complete unlike last year), our last Family Day, and even the small talks we had. Everytime na nakikita ko yong mga barkada pics natin, I can’t feel anything but sadness because the six of us haven’t seen each other as a complete group since April. Noong pumunta nga ako two weeks ago sa STC to get the annual, winish ko na sana naroon kayong lahat para mag-bonding tayo kahit only on that day.

There you go, the surprise I promised you on FB last night. ;) I really hope you will find time to visit Taft anytime. Whenever you need a friend to help you, just text me and I’ll reply to you in five seconds quick. I miss everything about you: your trademark laugh (meron ba?), your jokes, your kikayness, your cute handwriting, and all the things that make you special. Study hard and be determined to be a successful pharmacist like you always dreamed of. Remember than no one can ever replace you because you’re amazing just the way you are!  Hihi =))

Happy 17th birthday, Bevz! Let me give you a virtual hug >:D<
