Maraming nagsasabi na iba ang dating Tumblr sa kasalukuyang Tumblr ngayon. Saksi ako noon kung ano ang Tumblr, Way back in 2009. Iilan lang ang blogger na meron tumblog noon. At halos lahat ng post malaman. Wala pa yung mga issue na nagtetrend. Wala yung mga follow back issue, follower issue….

Diary of a Wimpy Kid (College Edition)

First of all, let me get something straight: This is TUMBLR, not a diary. I know what it says on the title, but when I went to Tumblr to post this I SPECIFICALLY told myself to make a site that doesn’t say “private”. Why am I telling you about this? I want to make this school-related post ala Diary of a Wimpy Kid to shake things up. My first year in college is officially over, and I am now on vacation mode. Despite the excitement of having no obligations to wake up at 6AM and squeeze inside the LRT this summer, I miss going out of the house every morning to go to school, eat around Taft, and hang around with my friends. Oh no why am I being like this?  This is strange for a student like me to say that after a very hectic school year. Like everyone else, I hate those long periods of doing the same forms of entertainment every single day without any recreation outdoors. Frankly speaking, I cannot survive staying at home a whole week not only because of the excruciating weather but also it is sickening to do the sleep-eat-surf-read pattern seven days a week without any interaction from the outside world.

Because school suddenly came in mind, let us take a trip down memory lane on my freshman year in college, from May 11, 2011 to April 20, 2012:

Last Thursday (April 19) was the penultimatum whether my first year in college would end happily ever after or in tragedy.  To minimize the suspense, I first checked Twitter to get updates on my schoolmates whether they have viewed their grades on their MLS (MyLasalle) accounts already. Most of them were able to view them again already bringing them mixed reactions. My parents were so anticipated with my grades they even called me up to ask if I got them already. Several login attempts later, I was finally able to view my grades, and this is what my first reaction was:

"Yay!!! I don’t have a grade below 2.5 and I have lots of 3’s and 3.5’s and a 4!"

Using DLSU Frosh Tips’ GPA Calculator, I wanted to check if my grades sufficed the requirements to be a DL. A trial and error later, I was like this:

"I’m a DL again! Heck yeah!"

I can’t believe I survived the hardest term of the school year (read: third term). I thought I would not maintain the glory of being a dean’s lister but thank God all of my efforts paid off!

So to everyone who made my freshman year possible, namely professors, LR23, my forever fabulous Fantastic Four gimmick buddies / lunchmates (Monzie, Jeline, Kevs, Tisha), and friends from CLA and other colleges in all batches, here’s a heartfelt message from me:

Friend Appreciation Post

The title speaks for itself. Every conversation with my friends makes my day so splendid which makes me more thankful for meeting people like them. Last week, these five things occurred bringing to the conclusion how much my friends and I appreciate each other’s company.

1. Remember my last birthday post? I posted it on Mariae’s wall the day after I made it. Kath and Chini were able to view the post through Facebook, and both of them commented that I exerted lots of effort to make a friend happy on her (belated) birthday. Three days after I posted it, Mariae replied to it: “I ate your heart like a monster loljk :))) Thank you so much and I am so glad you appreciated everything you did for me :)” and lots more. So yes, the birthday girl loved my online birthday present I promised.

2. Chini and I chatted on FB two nights in a row about anything under the sun. It was great to hear from a long time, no see HS friend!

3. If you’re following me on Twitter, you could see my interaction with the lovable Monzie. Whenever we don’t have load, we use the ever-almighty power of Twitter to talk to each other  Sometimes we go on FB to chat but nothing beats the fun of tweeting each other may it be replying to each other’s tweets or sending DMs.

Below is a conversation we had tonight on Twitter written here based on what I remember:

Monzie: Thank God I passed all of my subjects! Nothing to worry anymore :)

Me: Congrats bb! >:D< So proud of you!!!

Monzie: Thank you! How are your grades?

Me: Did not expect to make it again but they’re all good!

Monzie: Congrats!!!!

Me: Thank youuuuu :)

Monzie: Forever 21 in SM North Edsa is NOW OPEN! :)

Me: Let’s go there soon!!!

Monzie: Went there the first day and it was so awesome!

Me: Really?

Monzie: We will go there soon!

4. Two of my friends suddenly struck a chat a with me last night after viewing our third term grades (more about it next post). Jeline was first, asking me about how my grades turned out. While we were chatting, she sounded so happy because her wish to become a consistent Dean’s Lister was fulfilled! After the two of us exchanged congratulations, we began telling about grades in different subjects as well as our complaints on some professors. The school talk then drifted to summer plans and mixed-up comedy that lasted for an hour. Jeline made majority of the comedy conversation making the chat more vibrant and less serious. I will definitely miss that banana :)

5. Vya was in a foul mood last night over her TREDONE grade, so she asked me when and where would the grade consultation for the subject take place. After I answered her question, both of us were wondering how could that happened considering Vya did more than 10 hours of church service in addition to submitting all of the necessary documents before the deadline. Because I hated to see my friends down, I gave her words of encouragement telling her that she deserves more than that seeing all the effort she did to pass the class. She thanked me after that with a grinning emoticon. I guess it was enough to lift her up after a bad day.

The friends I mentioned above were there at my moments of spring and fall, and I am really blessed to have met people like them. They never failed to make me realize that true friendship still exists in the world where the existence of fair-weathered frenemies has taken full circle.

4.15.2012

  • Edited my blog layout as seen in the photo above

  • Watched Bb. Pilipinas 2012 and noticed a few things

  • People paid more attention on DJ David Callum rather than the 30 contestants (according to Twitter)

  • Now it’s 1AM and people are nagging me to Google the link of the Q&A portion :|

  • But I couldn’t find the link since there is no credible source yet and people are complaining about it

  • Congratulations to all of the winners of this year’s Bb. Pilipinas!

  • To the people are not pleased with the results, this is not a reality talent show where popularity seals a contestant’s victory; rather, it is up to the judges on who wins the crown

  • Now let me go to bed

  • Sleep tight everyone! :)

Blue Jeans feat. Lana Del Rey

Made this out of boredom during the Holy Week.

Starting today, I am officially done with my freshman year of college! But before that, I would like to take time to dedicate this post with one of my amazing Theresian friends. Her birthday was actually on April 7, but due to schoolwork I wasn’t able to make this for her :( So to make up for working on our POLISCI video project, I finally made this just for this great girl.

Heyyy girl whatcha doing??  I used the first line of the New Girl theme song as my icebreaker because I am on a state of writer’s block right now. But I am not letting it overtake my effort to make  my “online birthday gift” for this wonderful friend and classmate that I’ve known since we wore the same yellow-pink-or-green uniform more than a decade ago. Now I’ve made the icebreaker…

I am dedicating this post to Mariae (@mariaethenight), one of the friends / classmates I’m grateful God has given me in my life. She is an accounting major by day and the biggest Lady Gaga fan at night. Her admiration for the Mother Monster inspired her now-classic hair (haha!) and for everyone to be beautiful in their way cause they were born this way. Back in high school, she was always the first one to crack a joke that would make IV-3 burst into laughter in addition to tease any one about their lovelife =)) Thanks to her soprano voice, everyone became more interested in singing. What more could you ask for with her beauty, brains, humor, and style? With all of these qualities in intact, you’ve just met one of the greatest people you’ll ever meet. Now let’s get to business:

Happy 18th birthday to one of the most gorgeous, smart, hilarious, and kindest girls I’ve ever known my entire life! >:D< I cannot get over the fact that we’re so old already </3 It seemed like yesterday when we wore the same yellow-pink-or-green uniform in Prep, and now we are college students legal to do anything we want :)) First and foremost, I would like to thank you for being a caring, brave, unselfish, and thoughful friend and classmate who made me live life to the fullest. I am so lucky to have someone who accepted my flaws and motivated me to be more confident of myself. Thank you also for all those teasing about X, Y, etc. because it truly became a part of my precious STC memories ;) I have to admit that I enjoyed it so much because it  made me smile ear-to-ear all the time because I knew you and IV-3 wanted me to be happy all the time. You don’t want to see Candice sulking in a corner, right? :) Whenever you cheer for me or congratulate me for my achievement, it always makes me feel special knowing there is always someone who can be your biggest fan. Thank you also for our vanity moments :)) Whenever there’s a class reunion, I always make sure that I take photos and upload them on Facebook the next day because everyone especially you is anticipating for them. Even though we faced a lot of challenges, we never intended to break our friendship apart.  Everyone is fortunate to have met you at least once in their life because you brought them joy and comfort especially when everything is not on the right track.

I really hope you’ll appreciate this post I’ve made even if it is a belated birthday gift to you. I am really sorry for giving you this late since I was jampacked the whole Holy Week :( But always remember that I never forgot your birthday. Oh wait, I almost forgot! Let me share my birthday wishes for you even though some of them can be so cliche:

  1. Study well, survive the limbo of accounting, and graduate college!

  2. Continue to inspire and bring happiness to hundreds of people

  3. Finally get the chance to meet Lady Gaga in concert

  4. Good health

  5. Success in life

  6. More blessings and power to you <3

This took me two hours to write this thanks to my writer’s block but I guess everything will pay off in the end! I hope to see you soon because I have lots of things to catch up with you. I miss your jokes, your girlfriend advice, your likes on my DPs, your constant nagging of me to upload our pictures on FB, and your operatic singing! I hope we get to see each other before the end of the world. Remember that a lot of people (including me) love you for who you are. When you’re in doubt, I’m a message or tweet away and I will help you out.

So there, I already made my “online birthday gift” to you like I promised. Once again, happy 18th birthday ☺

Video: If Facebook Were Invented in the 90's

Now this is classic.

Catch-Up Time

Belated happy Easter readers! How did you celebrate the day of the Lord’s resurrection yesterday? If you ask me, I did two things: 1) go to church, and 2) finish the POLISCI media project. I did not want to cram with the editing of the video so I worked on it the whole Holy Week vacation. Now I am done, done, and done. I could just sit back and relax without having a second thought. To be exact, the POLISCI media project was the main reason why I wasn’t on Tumblr since Maundy Thursday. I guess I’ve missed a lot, so here I am now making a catch-up post of life’s happenings since last last Saturday.

March 31 - On that exact day one year ago, I graduated from STC QC. 366 days later, I was at Trinoma with my college friends to watch The Hunger Games. We first met up at Monzie’s house but it was raining cats and dogs that’s why we were able to arrive at the mall at around 12:30 PM. It was followed by a lunch in the foodcourt at the ground floor then a series of Dance Dance Revolution in Timezone. We were able to watch The Hunger Games at around 3:45 PM with our trusty bags of Taters popcorn. Mind you, I finished the book only the night before while my dad kept on spoiling me about the movie (hehe!). Even though some parts of the book were slightly altered for the screen, I was very satisfied with what I watched. In fact, I am now looking forward to Catching Fire movie next year!

April 2 - My Mondays are usually dull but not this past week. PERSEF was adjourned early because the professor did not show up, so my friends and I went ot Chicboy instead then headed to Zaide. At around 11AM, Tish left us to go to Alabang to meet up with her dad so Kevs, Monzie and I went to Robinsons Midtown to have lunch at Chef d'Angelo and do a little strolling. Fast forward to TREDONE, we watched a documentary for our final meeting. Finally, I had a late dinner at Manang’s Chicken with Tisha and Kevs where we pranked on each other.

April 3 - This marked as my last class day as a freshman :( In the morning, our HUMALIT class presented a dramatic reading of Ang Paglilitis ni Mang Serapio where I played the role of a psychotic judge’s muse. Lunch break was the best because it was the first time I bought a chocolate donut from Starbucks as a stress-relieving treat for myself. In SPEECOM, Monzie sat in since it was our last meeting.  Our group presented a panel discussion on Home for the Aged before our class held a spontaneous talent show! After class, we hung out at the Amphitheater to record voiceovers for the POLISCI media project.

April 4 - 7 - Holy Week vacation! It was dull unlike last year because I was stuck indoors but at least I was able to edit the media project. On Maundy Thursday, I went to the Washing of the Feet mass with my grandparents.

April 8 - At midnight, I had a Twitter chat with Monzie :)  Pigout day with my aunt which included a lunch at Tokyo Tokyo followed sundae and fries at Mcdo for snacks!

During the Holy Week vacation, I rekindled my friendship with Adobe Photoshop by creating a new graphic. I will unveil it in a later post.
