Goofing around with my daddio 😜

2012 in Retrospect

Hello readers, this shall be the final post of my blog for the year Two Thousand and Twelve (2012). I am still alive and kicking despite all the Mayans’ sincerest efforts to predict the world’s end. Everybody’s sharing their thoughts for the year that is about to end in less than three hours, so now I’ll be taking a page out of my lifebook as well.

Let us look back at what happened to my life in 2012:

 • I became a bonafide member of this crazy world called Adulthood

 • Spent sembreaks with my cousins and grandparents in Cavite

 • LEAP on Valentine’s Day - spent the day dancing and ice skating at MOA

 • Visited Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru, Malaysia with my parents

 • Joined the Marketing and Events team of the Malate Literary Folio

 • Had my first part-time job as a student telemarketer

 • Got my first paycheck and saved it for shopping

 • Survived the hardest subjects (INTFILO, INTOECO, MATAPRE, and POLISCI)

 • Made it (third term of 1st year), got kicked out (first term of 2nd year), and returned to the Dean’s List…all in ONE YEAR.

 • Laughed out loud and learned a lot at the same time at Miss Velasco’s INTFILO class (yes, I am serious!)

 • Movies I’ve watched at the cinema: Underworld, The Hunger Games, The Avengers, Snow White and the Huntsman, Demonlover (a French film), Ninja Kids (a Japanese film), The Mistress (with my aunt), Taken 2, The Hobbit, and Jack Reacher

 • Attended Och’s, Kath and Khar’s debuts + reunion with HS loves!

 • Trips back and forth to Shang, Market Market, The Block, Trinoma, Rob’s Place with my college chums

 • Took the qualifying course for Lit twice…and you all know what happened :(

 • The entire GENDERS class + Luntiang Tadhana play. Enough said! <3

 • Met new friends from all of my classes especially during the second term of second year

 • Eleven months with my Blackberry = endless BBMs + tweets + freezing

 • Finally got the iPhone after having to deal with the slowness of my old phone

 • Reunited with Che after five years

 • Shopping sprees

There you have it, a post meant to highlight the hashtag #BestMemoriesof2012. August and September were awful months that is why I did not include them in my list for what made my year Other than that, I believe 2012 turned out very good year for me in all aspects. Simply speaking it was just as memorable as 2011.

To all the people I’ve been with this year, thank you very much for making my year so fantastic, so extraordinary, and so transcedent for me to remember until the end of time. It would not have been great without your presence. Regards also to all my readers on my two Tumblelogs for staying loyal despite my diminished activity there as a result of schoolwork and other priorities. I promise I would be more active when the new year rolls around.

As for 2013, I throw my coin down the wishing well with one thing on my mind. My only wish for the succeeding year is be the one that will make my average life so phenomenal and kinky.

One more thing: please let me take up my majors already by May, okay?

Happy New Year and God bless us all!

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

My brain cells froze while I thought of a suitable title for this post.

My Christmas vacation officially kicked off last December 16 when I headed to SG to stay with my parents for three weeks. The moment I arrived in Changi Airport, excitement was in the air knowing I would get to see mom and dad again like I did the past three visits. Additionally it would be fantastic to spend the holidays with them two years in a row (and hope this year won’t be the last hihi). After meeting up with my parents, the three of us had lunch at Burger King then headed home to rest before having dinner at Bonchon in Bugis.

The first three days here in my second home were dull because both of my parents were at work. My routine was like this: wake up at 8 or 9 in the morning, tinker with my mom’s iPad, have lunch at Hawker or somewhere else, take a nap, check my online profiles, read, dinner with the parents, then go to sleep at 11PM or midnight. I did not turn into some frivolous couch potato albeit all the boredom I suffered until the night before the end of the Mayan calendar - December 20. Instead of sucking up to the dust, there was something else I crossed my fingers on that day. And that was the…

ONLINE RELEASE OF GRADES!!!

Originally the grades were supposed to appear by some stroke of magic at our MLS (MyLasalle for those not in the know) accounts by 9PM. Alas on the morning of December 20 aka the day Miss Philippines got robbed once again at this year’s Miss Universe, we were informed by MLS we would have to wait until 11:30 in the evening for our agony to be ceased.

…..aaaaaand we were all asleep by midnight due to MLS’ infinite technical problems.

For days prior to the Lasallian version of doomsday, I prayed for my grades would be good enough to get into the Dean’s List once again. Like I said three months ago the first term of this school year was so terrible it can be a top candidate for my worst of 2012 as well as my entire college life. Thank my lucky stars the odds were in my favor this term all because of my subjects and all the new friends I’ve made in my classes. Basically I morphed from Forever Alone to Freddie Mercury due to the badassness of my life from A to Z. Not only that, my grades were skyrocketing in all of my classes even in INTOECO.

Spoiler alert: my grade in INTOECO was higher than 2! All the while I thought it would sink lower than that crushing my dreams of being DL this term.

On December 21, 2012, the world ended and now I am living in Jupiter. LOL kidding the Mayans lied to me and the seven billion people of this planet! The morning started out like no other: I logged in to my MLS account, clicked on “View Grades”, and I was delighted to see a 3, 3.5s, and a 4 for the second term. My prayers were answered; my efforts were not scrapped to the trashbin - once again I made the DL!

*queue in Wagner’s Flight of the Valkyries*

Here’s a screenshot from my mom’s iPad as a proof of how marvelous the second term was:

Too bad I was .67 points away from becoming a first honor DL but I’m still thankful for being at the cream of the crop again. I told you I’ll be making a comeback!

On Saturday I went on a shopping spree at the Cotton Ion sale in Vivo City as my dad’s reward for my accomplishment. Can you believe that I spent around $100 on two long-sleeved shirts, four pairs of shoes, two skirts, and two printed tees? The days after that were great but I’m too lazy to narrate all of these because it would take up too much space on this entry. Teehee.

You know what was the highlight of my holiday so far?

I finally got the iPhone after 5678038237 years! This pretty much explains why I’ve been tweeting via any iOS client and posting photos on Instagram lately. As a result of creating my very own IG account, I will no longer use Twitpic. I will be tweeting photos via IG or the official Twitter photo client instead. Do you have Instagram? Follow me @reallycandicereally! This is where I post quotes, stuff I’ve found everywhere online and offline, and things enlivening the brighter side of me. Beware: occasionally I showcase my vanity through IG.

So what happened to my Blackberry? Currently it’s lying in peace at the top of the bedside drawer. What will I miss? I will miss BB Social (especially BBM and Twitter), those annoying freezes, the colorful LED when I receive a message, and that cool QWERTY keyboard. It’s hard to imagine how the Blackberry used to be my dream phone a year ago. But I guess things change, right?

Today I’m updating this because for three days I’ll be in KL with my family. I could feel the euphoria rushing through my veins. To all those reading this, enjoy the rest of your vacation!

P.S. I had my hair dyed bronze brown today. Cheers! I’ll show you a photo when I get back from KL.

Luntiang Tadhana: The Best of GENDERS

Said no one from GENDERS A55, ever: “I hate Mondays and Wednesdays at 8 AM."

Who would have thought our class will develop this special bond all thanks to our play Luntiang Tadhana

Before that, let me reveal to you something. During the online enrollment for the second term way back in August, I almost changed sections. I was not excited over the fact I will have a seven-hour break from 9:30 to 4:10 since many of the classes I wanted were already closed. Then there was this newly-opened GENDERS section which accommodated my desired time of 1120-1250 so I begged Monzie to switch classes with me. Unfortunately she gently declined my request so I stuck to my original schedule. I was dreadful at first. But as Monzie said, "Everything happens for a reason.”

You know what? Three months later, I can proudly say I have no regrets in sticking to my original GENDERS section. In fact, so far this will go down as my favorite class in college not only because of the subject but also I got to connect with lots of marvelous people. The initial weeks were stressful due to the piles of readings we had to accomplish within two to seven days. As the weeks went by, the mood changed from tension to hysteria in the air ever since Sir Canoy gave us this challenging task to produce a final project as a class.

One October morning, our class was divided between a play and a movie for the final project. After some serious brainstorming, the play was chosen via unanimous vote from the whole class. Then came all the casting calls, backstage role assignments, and the scriptwriting to be utilized in the production. We thought it was an unattainable task at first, but with unity we realized that everything indeed is possible.

After weeks of day and night rehearsals, shootings on Fridays, an influx of announcements via text and FB, storyline switcheroos, jamming sessions, and stolen shots, Luntiang Tadhana was, without a doubt, a tremendous success! Everyone was able to do their jobs well especially the characters who got over with the audience. As a remembrance of being part of this college milestone called GENDERS A55, we all huddled together for our class picture - something I did not have since the one with LR23 last year. I may be with those people only for GENDERS class but it does not mean I cannot reach out to them. The number of people I know in college further expanded thanks to them as I became more open and interactive throughout the sessions. Just this past term, my friends asked me if I had made any new friends three weeks into the new school year. Alas for me I could not answer her because not a lot were open in building new friendships at the time. The tide turned soon enough now that I can count more than two new friends I’ve made most especially those I’ve met in GENDERS.

In conclusion, GENDERS A55 made me feel like I’m part of a legitimate college block / high school section again. Suddenly in thirteen weeks I got the IV-3 and LR23 aura once more. To Sir Canoy and the rest of the section, thank you very much for being a huge chunk of my college life! I hope I can be classmates with any of you again >:D<

Some of the memorable lines in class:

 • Originally I was supposed to play Jamie’s part in the play but because of my backstage roles I took a supporting role instead. Anyways during the first rehearsal it went on like this:

Me (to Enzo): Are you the team captain of Los Angeles Losers (Lakers spoof)? Congratulations for winning the college championship against Orlando Tragic! (then again, another spoof of Orlando Magic)

Enzo: Thanks! Correction: I was the team captain of De La Salle Fuschia Flowers!

To this day, Migo the scriptwriter remembers me as the girl “who spoofed the LA Clippers”.

On online enrollment day / shooting for trailer, we were sitting in the LS lounge when Russ told us about this particular person.

Russ: Strict parents nya.

Migo: Bakit naman?

Russ: Kasi Chinese eh.

Migo: Ang racist!

 • The agony we endured in casting the homosexual guy wherein Arvin eventually accepted the role after begging him to do so

 • Sir Canoy and the class’ happy and sad stories

 • Naku sobrang excited na ako sa A Beautiful Affair!” - Sir Canoy

 • “Ang Breaking Dawn, pambading lang yon!” - Enzo

 • “I am 150 years old, a genius, and a direct relative of Mang Tomas.” - Maria

 • Upon learning what he’s going to do in the locker room scene: “I don’t want everyone to see my beer belly!” - Bryant

 • Monzie and I’s Trip to Jerusalem game vs. the CLA office to secure the William Shaw Little Theatre as our venue

 • During one of our rehearsals: “Alam mo bakit favorite scene ko yong nasa ospital si Arvin, Enzo at Eddie? Kasi gusto ko silang mag-kiss!” - Francis

 • Usher’s Yeah. Enough said.

 • Monzie and Czar’s Oscar-winning directing!

 • Francis and Val’s random dancing

 • Watching the trailer over a hundred times before and after the play </3

 • All those kwentuhan moments and laughtrips during play rehearsals!

Wanna see how much fun we had during the actual presentation of Luntiang Tadhana? Photos after the jump!

Best. Two Weeks. Ever.

It seemed like yesterday when I blogged about the first week of my fifth term in school. Now thirteen weeks have passed, I did not expect to create some of the best memories of my college life in between that period. The last two weeks of the fifth term have been very enjoyable at least for me; however, I wasn’t able to tell you all about it earlier because I was busy preparing for my finals (not a surprise for Lasallians at this time of the year). Now that I’m free from all schoolwork for at least a month, I can now tell the world how unforgettable the past two weeks have been for me.

The Week of December 3-8

Monday (December 3) - For our GREATWK assignment, Dr. Sarza obliged our class to go to any Mexicali branch (but SM Mall of Asia, Trinoma, and SM North Edsa) for a “date” with the immortal Frida Kahlo. Right after a sample run of our GENDERS play in the morning wherein Sir Canoy liked it very much, Monzie, Kevs and I headed to Robinsons Midtown for our date with Frida Kahlo. At first we feared we would end up going to the Mexicali branch there for nothing had there not been a Kahlo painting in sight. Fortunately for us, we saw not only one but two works: The Elephant and The Dove and Self-Portrait with Bonito. Their chicken enchilada with Mexican rice made my tummy really happy that day! On that day Mexicali proved to be one of the finest restaurants in town with their delectable cuisine.

At night, we had night practices for the GENDERS play which will go on for the next few days - more about it after the jump! But first, here is a living proof that I had a date with Frida Kahlo (sorry Diego!)

Fashion Finds: Ellysage

Say hello to my first post for the last month of 2012! Finals week is heading our way so this would be the perfect opportunity for a last push so we can all enjoy a very merry Christmas. In order to make up for the lack of original posts lately, I will be sharing to you a lovely discovery from the cobwebs of the Internet - Ellysage, a Singapore-based online boutique!

It was Friday night when I had nothing to do besides checking my online accounts and reading articles from various websites. I will be staying with my parents starting December 16 until the first week of January, so it’s best for me to check out outfits to lessen the hassle of deciding what to shop there. Then while reading a blog I came across a link Ellysage as recommended in one of her fashion haul posts. So I clicked on it, and as they say the rest is history!

Online enrollment at again tomorrow

Prepared to this face once I log in to MLS at 1250 tomorrow:

I just want two things: 12 units or more and a schedule with the same breaks with friends next term.

"Sembreak"

For Halloween / All Saints’ day weekend I spent the short vacation with my grandparents from my dad’s side and my aunt Janet’s family in Cavite. So here is a list of what we did from Wednesday to Sunday (October 31 to November 4):

 • Went to Manila Memorial Park Cavite (not Loyola as I said in my tweet whoops) to visit uncle Rodel’s dad’s and his mom’s sister’s grave on the night of All Saints’ Day. The evening air was cool and fresh, but sleeping on a mat spread out in the grass gave me a backache.

 • At midnight of All Saints’ Day, we all watched Enchanted only to get a disc error at the penultimate scene of the movie :/ Shameless confession: it was my FIRST time to watch the movie.

 • Other than Enchanted, we watched Stuart Little and Snow White and the Huntsman on DVD accompanied with our snack buddies Pica and Clover!

 • Visited my grandparents and Tito Dilts! <3 I fulfilled my dad’s request for a photo with lolo and lola which my dad liked so much he posted it on his FB page :)

 • Took turns with Abby and Reese in playing aunt Janet’s iPad especially Temple Run!

 • What’s a trip without photos? Goofed around Photobooth with Reese!

 • Swimming in the Pacific Parkplace (my aunt’s family’s residence) has never been enjoyable!

The vacation may have only been for five days, but I am glad to have spent quality time with my family in Cavite! Thank you to all for this wonderful trip and hope to see you all soon!

I told him, “If I met you when you were 17, I would have thought you were foolish and I would have loved you.

And some day, you are going to lose your hair. And I am going to be very fat, and we will be wrinkling and tattooed and nearly deaf, and I will shout ‘I love you!’ at the top of my lungs, so you will hear me.

Today I got a surprise...

and that is I actually PASSED THE LASALLIAN AMBASSADOR EXAMINATION LAST FRIDAY.

Hoping I can make it through the 1st round of Group Simulation test! ;)

10.21.2012

Je ne sais quoi

In English, the above text means “I don’t know what”. Better known as my current situation.

I got rejected by The Lasallian three months ago, didn’t pass the first take of the qualifying exam for Literature majors, and now I got a “thank you and goodbye” from my application to be a Lasallian Ambassador (LAmb). If I don’t see my ID number on this paper containing the QLY-LIM results next week, then I’ve got two words: sore loser. Is it God’s way of telling me “You want these things but I have better things in store for you” or just part of my destiny to be turned down by almost all of the opportunities handed out to me? I am pretty much optimistic I will finally get to major next term, but the fact that I get rejected almost all the time makes me want to cry in a corner.

Seriously though, am I really that bad to get rejected everywhere?

Or am I too blind to realize those failures are actually blessings in disguise?

Everything happens for a reason, indeed. I can’t blame God or myself all the time. Just like the Lasallian alma mater song, “Never shall we fail”.

Come the next recruitment week of the SMO (Student Media Office), I will try my luck again in The Lasallian and probably Green and White. Let’s see if I am meant to be part of one of these publications (other than Malate of course). I cannot be a LAmb anymore because I will have three to terms left so I guess I have to accept I am not meant for it. Honestly speaking, I’d pick passing the retake of the Literature qualifying exam over the LAmb. Besides, I believe being a Literature major is written in the stars for me.

So dear God, please make me a bonafide Literature major so I could defy all the odds.

I just don’t want to feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind anymore.

10.18.2012

For once in my life I woke up thinking if at least one out of the seven billion people of the universe cared for my well-being. I wondered if there is someone in the shadows who imagined themselves in my shoes, put my heart into his / her sleeve, or simply concerned with what I will do and what I have done. Every time I wait for the Earth to swallow me whole while I’m in the middle of nowhere, I wish someone would rescue me from this living travesty. One day, I would fully realize that no man is a puppet to manipulate its emotions. It just saddens me that you would not know how much this person is so important to you once he / she is out of your sight. While you’re enclosed in this thought, imagine yourself being in the person’s shoes. How would it feel like if no one seemed to show their affections to you? To quote that man, it made him worthless and he wanted to point this out as a lesson to the rest of the world. If you want people to remember you fondly, make sure you show them how much you care for them. No one knows what will happen at the dawn of the new day.

100512: TGIF (Last Friday)

October 5 was one of the best days I’ve had this year! That day was my dear buddy Tisha / Patutti Frutti’s 18th wherein she celebrated it with her friends and family at Makati Shangri-la and Greenbelt. To kick things off, we ate our hearts out at the Circles buffet in Makati Shang wherein we had about four to five plates each of dessert and main course! As for me, I was able to return to the smorgasbord four to six times to get seafood, roast lamb, roasted chicken, California Maki sushi, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate from the chocolate fountain…and the list goes on to describe how happy my tummy was during those moments! My appetite was so large my friends already teased me about it. For about an hour and a half, my friends and I were eating while talking about anything under the sun.

Following the lunch, we walked to Greenbelt and headed to Timezone. But right before that, Tisha decided to treat us to Taken 2 which was what we did after playing arcade games since the next screening was already about 4 in the afternoon. Now in Timezone, we all took turns shooting the zombies in House of the Dead 2 ! Defeating the boss in the game can’t get any more fun without the help of your friends. Monzie, Tisha and I also had our snapshot taken at the photobooth inside. The funny thing is, we actually fought over selecting the best shots because I accidentally chose the one where I was answering the phone to talk to my mom! It was a real LOL moment but at least we had better snapshots ahead!

When there was about thirty minutes into showtime, we all headed to Starbucks for a couple of drinks. I really missed the smell and vuluptous taste of mocha frappe! Speaking of Taken 2, it didn’t disappoint me despite never having seen the first movie. I don’t even know why a lot of people consider it as the “worst sequel ever” to begin with! Anyways, we met up with Tisha’s aunt and cousins after the movie for a dinner at California Pizza Kitchen. A shameless confession: I last ate at CPK in 2004 during my mom’s office Christmas party. Thank the lucky stars CPK and I crossed paths again after eight years. All I would have to say is that their pizza and pasta is just as good as ever. During the dinner, Tisha’s aunt and cousins were telling lots of stories which made us delightful the whole time!

Thank you so much to the birthday girl Tisha and her fam and our friends for this awesome day! Now the camera rolls in 3…2…1…there you go to do the talking!

Patutti Frutti and moi!

Tisha with the waiters singing “Happy Birthday” to her! What a lovely surprise!

After lots of begging, Monzie finally got to convince the forever camera-hating Kevs to have a photo!

Inside the Makati Shang CR! I am the “long-legged astronaut” - Monzie

Inside the photobooth (while Kevs played something else for obvious reasons lol)

Thank you Monzie for these shots even though I forgot my memory card at home! Still waiting for the pictures from Tisha’s new SLR!

***The next day was LASARE2 and it was fun! This week has been really hectic that’s why I only got to update Tumblr yesterday. But anyhow, school is going really well and my breaks are great especially when I’m with my friends!

10.03.2012

Dear October, I would appreciate it if you make this month better than the last. September wasn’t exactly a disaster but it was an evidence of how bad things can it be sometimes. Many people were really disappointed with me because I didn’t meet their expectations. I already traded off a portion of my leisure time in order to be on top of the mountain again. So far, things have been looking better for me and I believe this would go on until Halloween. If things didn’t turn out exactly what I wanted before, please make this work this time because I’ve suffered enough the last time. My faith keeps telling me God will unfold His plans in due time - I hope He will this month. Overused as it may seem, October, please be good to me. I will do everything just to make things right.

A Small Update

For the first time in almost three weeks, my forever favorite KFC chicken filled my hungry tummy before going to my TREDONE make-up class today. This may not seem much to some people, but not being able to eat my #1 fastfood chain of all time for weeks is as sad as Tumblring only on weekends unlike before wherein I was on daily. Dimsum has been delighting me lately most especially the ones in Hainanese Delights and Cantonese Dimsum House (located in Agno). I blame my friends for introducing me to that during the last leg of the preceding term. On Monday, I will be starting my duties as a telemarketer at the Development Office in school as part of the student assistant program. I’m grateful to be one of the few given this opportunity to gain work experience while earning at the same time. Finally, Perks is out in theaters! I’ve been hearing good reviews from people who’ve already seen the film.

Second Term Part Deux

The first week of the second term is over just like that. From the five terms of tenure in the University, I would have to say that it was the best first week I’ve ever had. But first here is my current schedule:

Without further ado, I will present to you what happened last Wednesday and Thursday.

First Two Days (Last Wednesday and Thursday)

 • Had my first class in Andrew building for GENDERS with Monzie

 • Out GENDERS prof was the fabulous Sir Canoy

 • He asked us, “Who would you be given a day where you are another person of the opposite or same sex?”

 • I wanted to answer any celebrity but instead I chose my dad

 • Monzie answered the Jake Gyllenhaal and Sir Canoy asked her, “Are you a lesbian?” - ROTFL moment

 • BTW, the prof came late because he commutes via the LRT every morning from Blumentritt

 • Went up to the 17th floor to bring Monzie to her TREDTRI class

 • We then saw this girl eating a waffle and assumed she was a classmate of Monzie's

 • Monzie asked, “Hello girl eating a waffle, are you in my TREDTRI class?”

 • It turns out that the girl was my longtime Candymag.com Teentalk buddy Nadine!

 • Chatted with the two of them in their classroom until the prof went inside

 • Went to the DO to claim my certificate of good moral for START application

 • Had lasagna at Animo Food Haus

 • Slept at the lib because Monzie met up with her friend in Rob…

 • Until she called me up to meet them there twenty minutes later

 • When I was there, we had lunch at Hainanese Delights

 • And I had 6 ½ SERVINGS OF HAINANESE RICE.

 • On Thursday I met my SPANONE professor coming from Instituto Cervantes

 • At first, I thought it was a student until she introduced herself x_x

 • Sudden free cut in INTOECO so I had an early lunch at Pasta Boy

 • Headed to Andrew for HISTCIV

 • Hats off to Sir Rolly for his very eccentric yet lovable character: “I come across as crazy it comes to the point I cannot distinguish between truth and lie."

 • Met up with Mica and spent the whole four hour break at White Hat in One Archers

 • Had GREATWK as our last class and met Sir Jiggy for only ten minutes

Second Week (Monday - yesterday)

 • By chance I saw Justine inside the LRT and walked together up to Coffee Bean

 • Got a surprise text from Kevs before class since he was absent last week

 • Had GENDERS at 8:40 and got dismissed at 9 AM

 • Met up with Kevs and stayed at the 17th floor while Monzie had class

 • As usual we spent the whole 90 minutes talking about hilarious stuff

 • Workout at the Razon sports center during the break - jogging, curl-ups you name it

 • Monzie and I were out of breath while Kevs sat in the corner laughing at us =))

 • Since she was free cut in WIKAKUL, I had fun in the LRT with Pam and Sofia!

 • SPANONE is getting more interesting every session

 • Got to see our INTOECO prof for the first time as our class was about to leave

 • Had GREATWK in Gox where I met the triad: Sir Jiggy, Dr. Sarza and Mr. Villacorta

 • Boy, Mr. Villacorta was kind of intimidating with his theatrics while discussing about Nietzsche!

 • Got to see many of my blockmates in our section + groupmates with them for the final project!

 • After asdfghjkl weeks I finally got to see Tisha before GENDERS class! :”>

 • Early lunch at 7-Eleven = too bad they only offer unlimited rice on Sundays :(

 • Found out from the Lit department about the qualifying course for Lit this term

 • Face-to-face BBM with Kevs at Flower Delight (aka the bubbletea store)

 • Before sending this message: “Go out of the store because I know you will laugh so hard”….and I did

 • Watched I Am David in TREDTWO class

 • Caught up with

 • Two burritos and pizza from Zaide for lunch

 • Went to Instituto Cervantes to inquire about the SPANONE book only to find out that they don’t sell on Thursdays :/

 • Got interviewed by the SFA regarding the student assistantship program (crossing my fingers!)

 • Met up with the friends at Tokyo Tokyo - REUNION!

 • Sir Jiggy did a good job in making us understand Aristotle’s Poetics better

On the sidenote, I got to see The Mistress with my aunt last week. She treated me to Greenwich while I treated her to Oishi chips and cheese popcorn. The movie was overall satisfying much to my pleasurable senses. Story was believable, characters were not static. Watching Pinoy movies on the big screen may seem like a plausible thing for me to do but this flick is an exception. As long as it offers many reasons for the audience to watch it, I would go and see it just like what I do with Hollywood movies.

About an hour ago I enlisted in the qualifying course for Lit majors for the second time. I must not shift. As Lao Tzu quotes, “If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading.” Besides, have I decided to shift to another course this term I might be written off as a “quitter” for not trying until I succeed. Who knows, life would turn out differently if I proceeded to the shifting route. Ask any successful person out there, they have had an experience when they almost changed direction but persevered then got better than they wanted. Last Sunday and for the past few nights I’ve been praying to God that He may make me pass the QLY-LIM as Lit is the last option for me as a college course.

Last term was probably the worst ever in my year stay in the Taft-based university because everything fell into the lackluster category. I really hope my fortunes will turn around this term from my grades to the qualifying course. Probably the Big Man upstairs has given me all of these challenges the previous trimester to test my faith in Him as well as my endurance to surpass all of these struggles. I don’t want to assume or anything but I think He reserved all those good things in store for me this term. He saw how much I suffered last month and my desire to be as lucky as many people out there. If last term was their term, I would do everything to make this trimester my time to shine. With highly recommendable professors in the subjects I’m taking right now, I guess this is the beginning of turning tables from Bad Luck Brian to Lucky Larry.

With faith I believe Bro will make me a happy banana this Christmas.

New Goodies!

Mom’s package from Singapore finally arrived last Tuesday! Photos after the jump:

The clothes included in the package were the following: floral skirt from Forever 21, a printed tank top from Bershka, leggings from Mango, a cardigan from Cotton On, a black skirt from a brand I don’t remember, dresses and a polo from Bugis. I was surprised mom sent me the black skirt bearing the style I’ve always wanted including a Peter Pan collared dress I’ve been dying to buy since God knows when :“> Accompanied by these was my uncle’s new Samsung Corby, a jar of Centrum multivitamins, a belt, and foot covers.

But lo and behold, the best thing that came off the package…

I can now say I’m a proud owner of a Le Pliage Longchamp bag! <3 Thank you so much mom for all the goodies!

How wonderful it is to be able to buy something you want from your own pocket! After several failed attempts of saving to buy new items for my wardrobe, I was able to accomplish it last Thursday. A month’s worth of savings gave me the opportunity to buy a pair of flats from Solemate, a belt from Genevieve Gozum, and shorts from Jewels (which I got for only P150)!

My plans on what to buy coming the end of September: a choice between a skirt from Prima Donna, brand new shorts from a bargain store, and a pair of comfy flats from Shoebox!
